Hi All,
Our DS2 is now 10 days old and we haven’t been able to make a final decision on names! We’re looking for something that isn’t stupidly popular but also not too far off the beaten track. Our two final options are Otto and Rafe.

If it matters we’re based in SE England near London and surname is Carroll.

I’d welcome any opinions on either name - as we can’t pick between the two!

I've just heard somebody outside calling to their LO - 'Hamish!'.

Hamish Otto Carroll.

Just saying...

Rafferty sounds like the name of a racehorse.

I really like them both.
I know Rafes up to the age of 13 and no one has ever made ridiculous comments about their names so I wouldn't worry about that at all. I think, with all the little Rafaels about, many of whom are known as Raf or Rafa, it maybe doesn't feel as uncommon but it's much less common than Leo.
I do like Otto but I do think the potential O'Carroll makes it slightly odd (though not enough not to use it if it's your favourite).
I only know one Otto who is early 20s now but was a bit of an idiot when younger so that probably (unfairly) puts me off. I prefer Otis.

Joss? fits the criteria of unusual but 'easy'.

Joss Carroll.

Otto would be my preference from the two you have shortlisted
