Would you choose your baby’s name based on their religious or cultural background (if you could only choose one)?

Please share your thoughts! Thought this might be an interesting discussion.

For example if you are ethnically Iranian, but are Buddhist - do you choose a Pali name or a Persian name for your baby? This is not related to me, just a random example!

It depends if you're really religious - I mean, if your religion is a big part of your life. For me, my religion is the most important aspect of my identity to me, so I'd always choose religion over culture when it comes to anything. My kids both have names from the Bible.

(should add, we are a mixed race family, but we chose biblical names because being Christians is more important to us than our cultural background. We are also expats so nationality and culture seems unimportant as we have friends from all over the world. But our religion is something which is always important.)
