We are currently between Heidi and Darcey for dd2 due in a couple of months. Which do you prefer? Or any other suggestions of similar names. Thanks :)

Heidi.
I've never liked Darcy.

Chachachawoo · 11/07/2021 12:49

Like both but would chose Darcy bc for me it works better for an adult as well as a child.
I also love Dulcie, Romy and Elodie which have similar vibe

Mariex1989 · 11/07/2021 15:17

100% Darcey. Absolutely adore it, although I’m probably bias as this is what we’ve decided to name ours.

Not a fan of Heidi

wishing3 · 11/07/2021 15:19

Heidi!

ThirtyCharacterUsernamesOnly30 · 11/07/2021 15:29

I like Darcy but it rhymes with arsey.

MissMissTorrance · 11/07/2021 15:35

Heidi is timeless.
Darcey is already dated.

LadyEloise · 11/07/2021 16:24

Heidi.
I knew 2.
Lovely

VenusClapTrap · 11/07/2021 16:27

Heidi. I do quite like Darcy though.

thelazymum · 12/07/2021 15:03

Heidi is a lovely name x

emmathedilemma · 12/07/2021 15:12

Heidi

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 12/07/2021 15:21

Darcy really isn't that nice to me. I agree with PP that it is going to age badly, as well.

Heidi is a lovely name, that's the #1 choice!

Amdone123 · 12/07/2021 15:25

Neither, sorry. I agree with a pp, Darcy is going to date and Heidi ( I want to like it), but I just picture someone living in the mountains!

Severncity · 12/07/2021 15:29

Heidi is classic and timeless.

daisypond · 12/07/2021 18:24

Heidi is definitely not classic and timeless! It’s a twee nickname invented in a children’s book.

Chunkymenrock · 12/07/2021 18:31

Heidi, but both nice.

TatianaBis · 12/07/2021 19:55

It’s not a nickname it’s a diminutive - like Natasha or Sasha or Tanya.

It wasn’t invented by Spyri it was simply popularised by her, nearly 150 years ago now.

daisypond · 12/07/2021 20:29

Yes, I take the point that it’s a diminutive, not a nickname. But isn’t her name laughed at in the book? Anyway, I prefer Heidi to Darcy if it comes to it.

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2021 20:30

Heidi was originally a diminutive of Adelheid, an old German name.

I certainly wouldn't call it either classic or timeless.

Severncity · 12/07/2021 20:47

What is the definition of classic thenHmm

elQuintoConyo · 12/07/2021 20:55

Heidi.

I can't unhear Arsey Darcy from Brigitte Jones!

Moonshine160 · 12/07/2021 21:00

Heidi!

Marcipex · 12/07/2021 21:03

Heidi. They are always lovely.

KirstenBlest · 13/07/2021 10:01

A classic name is one that is established as a name and despite trends doesn't particularly stop being nice.

A girl's name like Elizabeth or Charlotte has been used for centuries. Doesn't particularly stop being used. Doesn't identify the age of the person.

Heidi has been used in the UK for only a few decades. Shortened form of a name not used in the UK, so not classic.

Darcey only started being wildly popular about 15 years ago and is a celebrity-inspired name. Not in the slightest bit classic or timeless.

Zenithbear · 13/07/2021 10:03

Darcey - far more rock and roll than Heidi.
Heidi is really boring imo

spiderlight · 13/07/2021 12:22

Heidi. Much prettier and more unusual - I know of umpteen little Darceys.
