Was just thinking about people I went to school with, or worked with in the '80s. I like some of these, and they seemed so normal at the time. But does anyone call their Dd these nowadays?

Gail
Hayley
Alison
Dawn
Donna
Monica
Lynne/Linda

I know of an Alison, Angela, Debra and Hayley. The first two are in my GS nursery. The other two are neighbours, both under 6.

Several of these are already back as middle names, and I expect they'll start to be used as first names soon.

Janet, Alison, Angela, Barbara are all being given as middle names - Monica, Gail and Donna not so much yet.

DD7 plans on calling her future DD Tina Confused.

ozzyfroggy · 30/06/2021 18:58

I like Tina! Grin

I love Hayley and would absolutely have used it if it didn't clash horribly with my surname. I nearly called my baby Sarah and wish I'd not have changed my mind. Can't say I much like any of the others though.

I like several of the names on your list (especially Alison, Angela and Dawn) and think most will come back around eventually.
I also really like
Susan (but not Sue),Caroline, Sarah, Christine/Christina and Nicola/Nicole, which i think are of a similar vein.

I have daughter called Angela and am glad I went with that name..There are hardly any of them in her generation

bruffin · 30/06/2021 20:24

@ILoveShula

Probably. Hayley already is only it's spelt Hailey or Hailee. Jean and Joan are on their way back.

Some of the names are nice.

I know a 2 year old Hayley

Monica is quite a traditional Catholic name. Like Mary or Theresa, there will always be a few.

I know a baby Jean, it's quite cute but I prefer Jane.

MillionBells · 01/07/2021 10:41

Nice name Slyn

Crunchymum · 01/07/2021 11:29

I adore Jean. Would use it for DD (no more for us though!)
