Hamish's sister is....

We're due a little girl and are struggling to settle on a name. Our 2 year old is Hamish. We like fairly traditional but not too popular names. My partner's Scottish but I'm not - I think a very Scottish name for DD could be overkill. Any ideas?!

Personally I think you have to go Scottish with Hamish as a sibling

I'm surprised how popular Isobel is here - I hadn't really considered it. Yes, @NotSoLongGoodbye I see what you mean about needing to go Scottish - or at least not going for a name obviously associated with a different country/culture.

We've had a few suggest Maggie, which I like. It would be lovely to honour my Grandma, a Margaret. In an ideal world I would use Margot (nn Maggie) for this, but dh isn't a fan of Margot . I'm just not entirely convinced that I can see a baby Margaret!

A fair few folk of mentioned Morven - dh is a fan but I've always thought it sounds very gloomy!

Hamish and Peggy is super cute actually. And she can always go Margot or Margaret later...

Can you not just call her Maggie and not bother with Margaret? If you prefer a more formal name you could put Margaret on the birth cert but just introduce her to everyone as Maggie from the get-go.

Mae might be another Margaret alternative?
