Too outdated?

Thoughts on Luella? Is it too outdated?
Thinking either Lu, Lulu, or Elle for nickname options.
My nan was Lucille but went by Lu and my gram kept suggesting Luella as a name for my cousin's baby (she has a Lincoln) but I don't know if it's too old fashioned for a baby.

(I'm American if that matters)

It's a bit redneck. I prefer Lucille.

Not old fashioned just different! It's quite nice but I personally don't like Ella or Lou much as abbreviations. Might not bother you!

I like it! I don't think it's ever been common enough to be thought of as old fashioned.

However, like a PP, I prefer the Louella spelling.

I don't see it as old-fashioned. TBH IMO it sounds like a modern made up name, and that's why I don't like it.

Love Lucille though.

Immediately makes me think of the very cool British fashion designer Luella Bartley. Not dated (or made up) at all.

I thought of Luella Bartley too. I like it.
