Lilibet

I have always liked the name Lilibet (which is by the way a name quite popular in Central and South America) and we have been thinking to name our daughter Lilibet for quite a while. We were thrilled for this name to be chosen for the new Royal baby and I am sure it will become quite popular in the next few years. It is such a sweet name that combines vintage and witty in my view. Absolutely adorable.
What do you think? :-)

Oh FFS no.

debbrianna · 10/06/2021 18:51

I had it's quite popular in the Caribbean and also Ethiopia. Very interesting how it never was never big in the UK.

Aquamarine1029 · 10/06/2021 18:52

I think it's horrible, but that's just my opinion.

Spied · 10/06/2021 18:53

Lovely

FlurryMuff · 10/06/2021 18:54

Nope nope and nope

Winkywonkydonkey · 10/06/2021 18:54

I think it's too twee

BlueMoonxxx · 10/06/2021 18:54

@debbrianna Absolutely, I was very surprised too! I didn't know about Ethiopia, but I know being popular in South Africa and also Uganda :-) :-)

I like it

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 10/06/2021 18:57

I like it but there will be thousands of them now.

Oldermum6 · 10/06/2021 18:57

I think it’s an adorable nickname for someone who couldn’t say Elizabeth, but not a fan of it as a name in its own right.

passenger19 · 10/06/2021 18:59

I really love it!

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2021 18:59

ITA.
Hallyup6 · 10/06/2021 19:03

Too harsh sounding to me.

Or a tampon crossed with a bookies.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/06/2021 19:04

I think it's a lovely name.
I think everyone will think you've named her after their baby though.

beans1992 · 10/06/2021 19:21

It’s awful. I can see why they chose it as it’s got such meaning for them and Lily is a lovely shortening BUT it wouldn’t work on anyone else. Just call her Lily!

Sleepingdogs12 · 10/06/2021 19:26

I am surprised you are thrilled ,usually people are upset if the name they love suddenly becomes popular or overused which might happen now with this one.

GameofPhones · 10/06/2021 19:28

Lovely name. Go for it!

Souther · 10/06/2021 19:29

I like the name.
It's cute, but will definitely become a lot more common now. So if you dont mind that, then carry on.

AdaColeman · 10/06/2021 19:30

Not as pretty as "Her Majesty The Queen".

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 10/06/2021 19:31

It's cute and no more twee than the armies of Lily, Lily Grace, Lily Mae, Daisy, Rosie, Evie, Ellie, Millie, Molly Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail out there

ConstanceMarkievicz · 10/06/2021 19:31

Eeeek
No.
Lily Beth I like but Lilibet sounds wrong

Vursayles · 10/06/2021 19:33

“ Or a tampon crossed with a bookies.”

😂😂😂 Brilliant.

I’m not a fan at all, it just sounds so twee and completely made up. I had no idea it was a name in its own right, but unfortunately now most people will assume you’ve just copied the Sussexes. If you love it though, go for it.

FierceBarrie · 10/06/2021 19:34

It’s lovely as a nickname for the Queen as a child because she couldn’t pronounce her own name.

Other than that - it’s contrived and random.

You were ‘thrilled’ when H&M chose it?

Now you’re just going to look as if you have zero imagination of your own, and are just copying a pair of rather tedious celebrities.

Why would you want to do that?

Whatalottachocca · 10/06/2021 19:35

One of my friends said it sounds like a “rapper” name. Li’l Bit.

AdaColeman · 10/06/2021 19:36

On a par with Princess and Baron.
