DH loves the name Rilian for DD - I'm not convinced. I like that it's bold and unusual though.

Sounds like Trillian from HHGTTG. If you are a scifi buff it will suit.

But before you give them an unusual name just remember they are going to have to repeat it and spell it out for the rest of their life, and that gets very frustrating.

Sounds ridiculous

Bouledeneige · 10/06/2021 03:19

I had a bad case of it last year. Antibiotics got rid of it.

partyatthepalace · 10/06/2021 07:54

It makes me think Gillian, Marillion, Million etc - don’t think any of these are attractive words so would be a no from me.

Sounds a bit like a disease to me not sure why

bridgetreilly · 10/06/2021 09:56

How about Rilla instead?

Bluntness100 · 10/06/2021 09:56

It immediately made me think of marillion, the band from the eighties.

Isn’t an unheard of name a made up name?

PattyPan · 10/06/2021 10:10

Sounds like an alien species!

Leeloo1233 · 10/06/2021 10:13

You could use Rilla instead?

Chilldonaldchill · 10/06/2021 10:22

I also would assume it's a boy's name based on the CS Lewis books.
Rilla is very sweet. In the AoGG books it is short for Marilla but I think you could get away with its being a name in its own right.

mammmamia · 10/06/2021 10:28

Lilian is much nicer

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 10/06/2021 10:30

sorry, no
it sounds like a medicine

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 10/06/2021 10:32

if you use it you could name her siblings Brilian and Grazillian

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 10/06/2021 10:33

There are nicer names, really. Rilla, Rhiannon or Gillian, as others have mentioned.

MadeOfStarStuff · 10/06/2021 12:00

Narnian Prince was my first thought

I wouldn’t saddle a child with a completely unknown name

RestingPandaFace · 10/06/2021 12:01

It’s a boys name isn’t it?

SoupDragon · 10/06/2021 12:03

I actually don't mind it at all. Better than some of the dodgy names bandied about on this board!
