...because it's part of their heritage that you want them to have, do you also teach them some Irish even if you live outside of Ireland?

@Mulletsaremisunderstood if you don't have kids, or if you have kids but don't give them Irish names, or if you give your kids Irish names after relatives or because you like the sound, then my thread was not directed at you.

But those parents who give their child an Irish name because it's part of their heritage might want to talk about how to keep and pass on the language.

I am very sorry you have nightmares about Peig. (The author of an Irish-language biography which is given to schoolchildren to read.) "An Béal Bocht" by Myles na gCopaleen is a possible antidote.

I do wish Irish had been taught in a way that left you with an appreciation for the language, even a love for it. But I am fond of it and I would love to have other people to talk it to.
