Which of these surnames would you prefer?

Fox or Honeychurch.

Asking for a friend who is changing her name after a difficult, to say the least, relationship. They are both family names. She can't decide which to choose.(I wish my surname was half as nice.)

She has a 4 syllable name if it makes any difference.

why not have honeychurch as an extra middle name, and fox as surname.
so eg ,
penelope fox for everyday use;
penelope jessica honeychurch fox, for the whole shebang.
sounds impressive. and unusual. a good new identity.

You mention she’s changing it after a bad relationship - my only thought would be how anonymous she wants to be in the future. As lovely as it is, it’ll be a lot easier to find a Honeychurch on Google than a Fox.

Loving Honeychurch and I think it'd be extra special following a 4 syllable first name. No need to be so conservative as Fox, as lovely as it is.

Both lovely. My only concern about Fox is that people may ask/wonder if you're related to Laurence Fox, or even worse inspired by him! I don't think it would put me off though. Fox just feels a better fit for someone who is creating a new life following adversity.

I think Honeychurch flows much better after a 4 syllable name actually:

Izabella Honeychurch sounds lustrous, whereas Izabella Fox just sort of falls flat!

Honeychurch, definitely 🥰

Honeychurch makes me think of floral, village fetes and cream teas so it's charming.
Fox makes me think modern and businesslike.
Fox would be my choice.

Combine them.

Honeychurch 100% even with a long first name. It’s wonderful. I knew someone with the surname Honeybun who married someone with SUCH a dull surname and changed it to that. Her choice obvs but I wouldn’t have!

Oh wow both are gorgeous surnames, I I'm watching Greys Anatomy right now where Catherine Avery changes her surname to Catherine Fox and it sounds extremely charming.

I prefer honeychurch by a mile but with a long first name? Maybe not. Depends what it is.

Also there will be very few honeychurches so they'll be very distinctive/easily identifiable which they may or may not like.

Foxes are mean. They attack rabbits. Honeychurch it a bit.. chintzy? Not sure I'd want either tbh!
