Curious for honest opinions.
I really like it for a girl. But don't fancy it as a NN for Aurora etc.

I like Rory for a girl

optimistic40 · 07/06/2021 20:02

I love it Smile

Misspacorabanne · 07/06/2021 20:05

I know you said you aren't keen, but I love Aurora and nick name of Rory! Smile

woodfort · 07/06/2021 20:09

Maybe as a nickname for Aurelia rather than Aurora?

And please God not Rorie or Rori!

FunnyWonder · 07/06/2021 20:16

I think it's fabulous as a nickname for Aurora as mentioned above - in the same vein as George or Georgie for Georgina, Charlie for Charlotte or Jo for Joanne/Josephine etc.

But not as a stand alone, given name for a girl.

I think the other spellings are dreadful.

Stevearnottsbeard · 07/06/2021 20:35

Love the name Rory, but only for a boy. Really don't like aurora or Aurelia either.

MadKittenWoman · 07/06/2021 20:47

nope

Violetlavenders · 08/06/2021 07:05

I know a little girl called Rorie.

Violetlavenders · 08/06/2021 07:13

Rory is a cute nickname for Aurelie, Aurora or Rosemary.

Posieandpip · 08/06/2021 13:39

Love Rory for a girl! Reminds me of Gilmore Girls. But I prefer it as a nickname for Lorelei or Aurora.

HoldingTheDoor · 08/06/2021 13:46

Nice on a boy.
Dreadful for a girl.

Geminimama88 · 08/06/2021 13:52

I like Lorelei actually hadn’t thought of that. Never seen Gilmore girls so don’t know that connection.

I also love Reese for a girl. Xx

Lowri? Same Celtic vibe but a girl's name.

TatianaBis · 08/06/2021 14:14

Reese is very downmarket.

Aurora, Aurelia, Leonora nn Rory are all lovely.

What about Romilly nn Rory?

Violetlavenders · 08/06/2021 15:11

Rory, Aurora, Lorelei are much nicer than Reese.

Mrsjayy · 08/06/2021 15:14

Rory is a boys. Name I mean you could use it obviously but you might have a lifetime of no it's Rory not Rosie.

Serpenta · 08/06/2021 15:18

I like Lorelei actually hadn’t thought of that. Never seen Gilmore girls so don’t know that connection.

The Gilmore Girls is (for the most part) the source of the Rory as a girls' name trend.

UmpteenthTime · 08/06/2021 15:55

Romy is a beautiful girls name.
What about that?

MyMagicStars · 08/06/2021 16:08

I know a Roryn- gets confused for Robyn quite frequently.

HappyAndDevoted · 08/06/2021 16:29

Could Tori (stand-alone or short for Victoria) be another option?

TatianaBis · 08/06/2021 16:48

Lorelai is awful.

Crowsaregreat · 08/06/2021 16:52

Why would you want to make your child go through life having to explain their name the whole bloody time? You might as well call her Jonathan. There is no shortage of girls' names, why not choose one of those?

SeanChailleach · 08/06/2021 16:57

I love the name Rory for a girl or a boy.
I really love Aurora, but would say it could be NN for Órla too.

Blackopal · 08/06/2021 20:04

I know a little girl named Lorelei, really suits her, lovely name.

MrsNutNutsmarriedaphilanderer · 09/06/2021 10:01

Romy or Tori both much better options for a girl
