Which name is your favourite?

Imogen is lovely.
Violet is ok
Not keen on the others.

Imogen is lovely. Would have said Maya, but not if you are going to pronounce it wrongly.

Violet not bad but a little old lady-ish. Viola or Violette? Reeva, I don't dislike, but in this country it is mainly associated with the tragic murder victim.

Don't like Maya pronounced May-a. It's really clunky. Pronounced My-a it's the nicest.

Imogen and Violent both nice enough.

Don't really like Reeva

1.Imogen is by far my favourite

1. Maya - I know so many Mya/Mia/Maya it's just a bit samey. But I guess they are popular for a reason.
2. Violet
3. Reeva - same as PP

I know so many Maya/Mia/Mya/Maias I find it hard to remember which pronunciation they each are so I definitely wouldn’t go for that.

Not keen on Violet. Can’t seem to say it without putting on a posh accent.

I quite like Reeva, but my first thought was Steenkamp. I’ve googled it and it means ‘river’, which is a nice meaning, but now when I say it I just hear ‘river’ in a silly accent.

I love Imogen.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I think Imogen is my favourite but having trouble getting DH onboard!

Imogen is my fave of your list - it's the most classic imo, with a elegant Shakespearean feel (and cute nn options in Immy or Ginny if she wants).

I think Maya and Violet will date as they have had massive rises in popularity in the last 15/20 years and so feel quite trendy (plus Maya has pronunciation issues here too). Reeva is too unusual for me- it's still very associated with Steenkamp (the name was almost unused in the UK before her famous murder).

Reeva is my favourite but sadly it'll be unusable for a while.

Second favourite is Imogen.

Maya. I don't like the others really. Reeva is okay but I don't like the shorter nicknames Ree or Reevs or Reev or Reevie, which I suspect would stick.

Not so keen on Violet as a first name, but like it as a middle name. Imogen Violet?

Maya is nice but I know someone with a Maya who is always correcting people that it's May-a not My-a.

I love the name Reeva but agree about the Reeva Steenkamp association. I'd never heard of this name before her, it's such a shame as it's so pretty but not in the normal frilly girly way. Having said that, it's likely that your daughter's generation won't have such an association so if you feel comfortable with it you should use it.

Thanks guys. It’s so hard to agree on a name. We both decided today we like the name Neve too so that’s another contender to add to the list!
