Tricia. (As the official name, not a nickname for Patricia or Beatrice. Pronunciation is same as Trisha.)

and what would be good middle names for it?

Tricia Elise
Tricia Beth
Tricia Leigh

I like the name Patricia, it's a strong name, please ignore the pages of patronising stereotyping of older women who may bear the name 🙄

Tricia, Patsy and Trixie are all good derivatives of the name

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 25/04/2021 23:02

I only know one Tricia (who is Patricia but that's never used). My aunt aged 85.

I'd struggle to get used to the name on a baby, but I suppose that's what we were like with other old fashioned names like Nancy, Betty, Elsie, Frank, Alf etc. not long ago.

Stevearnottsbeard · 26/04/2021 06:25

My lovely, wonderful stepmum 😍😍😍 we very sadly lost her in December, so whilst it's more of an older ladies name, I would have nothing but great associations with it. Her middle name was Ann, but thats probably too old 🤣
Tricia Grace
Tricia rose
Tricia Katherine
Tricia kate
Tricia faye

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 26/04/2021 06:29

@stillcrazyafterall

All those saying it's a woman in her 50s are a generation out! I'm in my 60s - my mother was a Patricia and she was born in the 30s. Never knew a Patricia when I was growing up!
This! I’m late 50s and it’s a name that was very common in my mother’s generation. My stepmother, my MiL and an older friend are all called Patricia and known as Tricia/ Tisha/ Pat. There were none in my cohort at school or friendship group.
Edenember · 26/04/2021 06:47

I’m not keen, but I don’t think it’s wild name to call a child, just dated. It probably wouldn’t be met with any surprise by peer group but would among adults.

AuntieStella · 26/04/2021 06:52

I would never see it as a stand alone name, and would expect the person to be called Patricia

It did drop out of fashion, and is pretty rare on anyone under about 50

I think it's a name that wiil make it's way back into fashion, as others from that generation are beginning to be talked about

DotsandCo · 26/04/2021 07:01

Awful...poor baby 🤣

Pinkypink · 26/04/2021 08:58

Dated.
I would assume she was named after a grandma or old auntie.

partyatthepalace · 26/04/2021 11:14

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

I love it very chic. I'd assume she was a Patricia. My mum was Patricia but she used Pat rather than Tricia.

Tricia Louise
Tricia Jane
Tricia Dawn
Tricia Alice
Tricia Marie
Tricia Evelyn
Tricia Grace
Tricia Rose
Tricia Daisy
Tricia Anne
Tricia Belle

On what planet is Tricia Dawn chic?! Grin Tricia Dawn is 64 with a husband called Ron and a PT job in a betting shop.
MiddleParking · 26/04/2021 11:23

I’d assume OP is considering naming her daughter Tricia after her mother or another relative. The insults might be pretty hurtful.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 26/04/2021 12:35

Ugly, dated and dowdy tbh...

Cabernetto · 26/04/2021 12:48

Honestly? It's a bit dated and not in a good way.
However, if you're keen to use it it would make an interesting middle name.

MirandaBlu · 26/04/2021 13:29

I think Tricia as a stand-alone had a spike in the US in the early '70s as Richard Nixon's daughters - much in the spotlight - were Tricia and Julie. (She was technically a Patricia, though - after her mother, who went by Pat). I'd assume both Trisha and Tricia were most likely short for Patricia, which was very popular for decades.

24GinDrinkingOnceTheKidsInBed · 26/04/2021 13:31

I immediately pronounced it ‘trick-ee-ah’

I don’t like it personally, sounds like a side affect of taking some form of medication.

“Antibiotics gave me Tricia!”

MaryMow22 · 26/04/2021 13:39

80's.. brings to mind a girl with a perm

BettysCardigan · 26/04/2021 13:40

It sounds like a sneeze.

Beetlewing · 26/04/2021 13:42

I have tried and I can only work it into ok-ness if the baby is named Patricia and you used Patti instead of Tricia. Patti is cool Tricia is not. Sorry

MercyBodle · 27/04/2021 03:37

I don't mind it.

DalPalak · 27/04/2021 04:16

Am I insane? I like it. It sounds retro and cute. I knew a lovely and kind Patricia once -- so maybe Tricia just has positive associations for me.

mathanxiety · 27/04/2021 04:57

I know a lot of Pats, Patsys, Pattis, Trishs, Trishas and Tricias of 54 and up.

It's dated but not dated enough to be cool.

annaboo2 · 27/04/2021 20:36

@MiddleParking

It’s a name I saw elsewhere and quite liked so no offence taken. Although it’s rather lost on me why a name’s age is of any importance. I’d rather my DD have a mum or gran name than be Olivia or Ella P. all through school or some daft name no one can spell or pronounce.

BrutusMcDogface · 28/04/2021 07:23

Why would anyone pronounce it “trick-ee-ah”?! That says more about you, than the person naming their baby Tricia! Good grief.

Synchrony · 28/04/2021 15:43

I like it. It reminds me of a character in Sweet Valley High and I've never known one in real life.

notalwaysalondoner · 28/04/2021 15:46

@CagneyNYPD

Tricia is married to Mick and they live in a 3 bed semi near Epping. She is a supervisor at the local branch of Santander. Best friends with Sandra and Sue. Tricia is in her mid 50s and enjoys a cheeky glass of Prosecco after her pilates class.
Pretty much this. Tricia has an awful voice and bright pink painted manicured talons. Tricia doesn't do pilates though, she does pole dancing classes.
