Claudia and Sophie for twin girls?

Hi MN, I posted last week about a few names we were considering and think you’re all right; twins with the same initial isn’t really fair considering they’ll be a ‘set’ to many people for most of their lives, so they don’t really need matching initials in the mix as well.

So, we’re thinking Claudia and Sophie are our current picks, with older brother being George. Thoughts? Middle names will be Araminta (Claudia Araminta) and Catherine (Sophie Catherine).

Sophie Catherine is nice but I don't personally like Claudia with Araminta.

VanillaAndOrange · 14/04/2021 19:33

I like both of these names and I like that they are not too obviously "twinny" if you see what I mean. I'm not sure about Araminta as a middle name after a name that ends with A - it's a bit difficult to say!

Atlas2006 · 14/04/2021 19:36

Our last name is Scott, for reference.
I think when the whole name is said, it flows ok? Our other option was Alexandra, but we preferred Araminta. Open to suggestions though!

1 has the safe names and the other more adventurous?
Swap them around?
Claudia Katherine
Sophie Araminta

Atlas2006 · 14/04/2021 19:38

I don’t think we consider Claudia to be an adventurous name at all! We also prefer Catherine with a C vs a K as is a little more traditional and we like traditional names.
Big brother is George Theodore.

Winkleman?

GertiMJN · 14/04/2021 19:42

I agree with Aprilshowersandhail , those 2 sets of names have very different feels.
Claudia and Sophia have more similar feel.
Also Claudia Araminta is a lot of 'a' s.

Atlas2006 · 14/04/2021 19:46

Claudia Elisabeth (with an s) is another possible option instead of Araminta!

Nice choice first names. I’d swap the middles round, even if retaining Catherine with a C.
Claudia Catherine
Sophie Araminta.

Just means they both have a very feminine
-a ending name each, and they both have a very classic name each. More balanced. Just an opinion.

Claudia and Sophie - really lovely

MarshaBradyo · 14/04/2021 19:53

Nice

Mumoftwoinprimary · 14/04/2021 19:54

I love

Claudia Elisabeth and Sophie Catherine

They both sound great alone, sound great as a pair and also work as a trio with George.

HadEnoughOfBears · 14/04/2021 19:55

I agree Smile
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/04/2021 19:56

I would prefer Sophia to Sophie to make it more balanced looking with Claudia.
Middle names don't have too much of a bearing on a day to day basis, in my view.

sadpapercourtesan · 14/04/2021 19:56

I wouldn't have an "A" name after Claudia, it makes it clumsy to say and forces a glottal stop. I'd choose something that starts with a consonant.

Claudia and Sophie are lovely, though.

notagainmummy · 14/04/2021 19:57

I think Claudia and Sophia sound better. you can always nn sophie

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/04/2021 19:57

I like Sophie Catherine and Claudia Elisabeth. Hate Araminta.

WaltzingToWalsingham · 14/04/2021 19:58

Claudia and Sophie are both gorgeous. But I agree with PPs, that Claudia Araminta doesn't really go. Too much of a tongue twister! Claudia Elisabeth is lovely, or do as Eden suggested and swap the middle names so you have Claudia Catherine and Sophie Araminta. Beautiful, classic names!

AppleKatie · 14/04/2021 20:00

Both lovely but my first thought was also ‘Winkleman’.

I suppose it depends whether that bothers you or not!

YourCakesAreShit · 14/04/2021 20:01

Aren't they the Winkleman sisters?

MitheringSunday · 14/04/2021 20:03

Honestly? I'd think Claudia got the raw deal, especially with Araminta, while her sister got classic, elegant Sophie Catherine. (Claudia is classical rather than classic in my view and just doesn't feel right with Sophie). And the meanings just clash too much.

Names that work better with Sophie IMO - Rosalind, Marianne, Laura (you don't hear of many little Lauras these days), Helena, Beatrice.

proopher · 14/04/2021 20:03

Yes, Claudia and Sophie Winkleman! I wouldn't let that out you off though.

I don't think Claudia Araminta flows properly because the two As run together and make it difficult to say.

Sophie Araminta sounds much nicer.

campion · 14/04/2021 20:05

Claudia and Sophie go well together without being matchy, and they are both nice names.

Middle names are personal choice so I'd just go with the ones you really like. They are hardly ever used. If you love Araminta then go for it. The 'a' sound isn't the same as 'ia' so I don't think it's a problem to have Claudia Araminta.

Junebabe · 14/04/2021 20:07

Oh i love George, Claudia and Sophie

proopher · 14/04/2021 20:08

I'm not fond of Claudia Elisabeth either for the same reason - the vowels run together. I feel that Claudia needs a middle name starting with a consonant so that it will flows:

Claudia Louise
Claudia Penelope
Claudia Mary
Claudia Madeleine

Etc.
