WDYT of Eric? I am seeing the name everywhere and keep coming back to it. We already have an Ada. I feel like it’s a similar style, but do they sound like a pair out of an old people’s home together and we should go for something a bit more modern? 😅

I love it. Instantly follow it with 'the half a bee' and start singing. I love Brian too.

PollyThePony · 13/04/2021 07:57

I like it

MyOtherProfile · 13/04/2021 07:57

Just no.

TodayImostlyhaveaverucca · 13/04/2021 07:59

I really don’t like it, for some reason it sounds a bit like some kind of bodily function. Having said that, I have known a couple of adult Eric’s and they were both absolutely lovely.

FASDE1517 · 13/04/2021 08:09

Love it! It's my son's middle name.

drpet49 · 13/04/2021 08:21

I like it

Twizbe · 13/04/2021 08:25

I like it, I have a cousin Eric. It'a a name that grows with the baby.

It's also quite international and easy to pronounce in lots of languages if that's a consideration.

Kanaloa · 13/04/2021 08:48

It’s nice enough, not awful but not my favourite.

Edenember · 13/04/2021 08:50

I like it for its Scandi vibe. Feels quite classic if you think about like that, feels a bit like an old mans name if you think about it as being purely English. Goes with strong Germanic Ada.

emmathedilemma · 13/04/2021 10:00

I quite like it.

Ejm02 · 13/04/2021 10:06

very nice name that fits a baby, child and adult. A strong name!

KoalaOok · 13/04/2021 12:04

Good choice

ParadiseLaundry · 13/04/2021 12:07

I really like it. Classic but also seems to sound fresh and cool at the same time.

It reminds me of Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. Who is devastatingly handsome. For a cartoon character.

Marmite27 · 13/04/2021 12:09

My daughter has Erica as a middle name, and my nephew Eric. Cousin went the whole hog and her sons name is Eric.

They’ve obviously got a common ancestor Grin

Mimilamore · 13/04/2021 12:13

Your baby, your choice, for what it's worth I like it but many won't, tough tits I say 😀

RuthW · 13/04/2021 12:20

Lovely. Dd was going to be Eric

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/04/2021 12:23

Eric works well with Ada imo. They are both old-fashioned, but they also have an cool element to me - Ada from namesake Lovelace and the similarity to trendy Ava, and Eric from the Scandi sound and Viking heritage.

Touloser · 13/04/2021 12:23

I think it's a great name for a horse/cat/gerbil, but no really for a child.

Flymetothestars · 13/04/2021 13:32

I absolutely love the name Eric
Wish I'd used it. My partner loves it too
It's really not that "out there" in 2021 and sounds great with Ada

"Not ready for a child" 🤣 respect your opinion, @Touloser but you know Eric is number 126 in the official charts now! That's way higher up the chats than supposedly safe names like Peter or Simon.

Figgygal · 13/04/2021 13:34

I know a 2 year old Eric
Not a fan myself but seems more around then previously

May2021Mummy · 13/04/2021 15:07

I love the name Eric but unfortunately we can't use it 😢😢😢

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2021 20:08

I like it if it's spelled Erik.

Spelledthat way I think it says Scandi cool rather than resident of a home for retired gentlemen.

jaundicedoutlook · 13/04/2021 20:19

Eric is an old, bald man to my ears. Brother to Colin or, perhaps, Trevor.

ColourfulElmerElephant · 13/04/2021 20:21

I like it and have increasingly come around to Frederick as well which it could be a nn of.

finallychangedmyusername · 13/04/2021 21:15

I quite like Eric. It's familiar, not too "out there" and goes wonderfully with Ada.

I think I might marginally prefer Erik which feels a but more international and modern perhaps.

There's also Alaric, or Elric, which might appeal to you?
