I really like Grace.

Spied · 06/04/2021 08:14

Much prefer Grace.

tuttifuckinfruity · 06/04/2021 08:20

Done to death in my opinion, and Amelia Grace would be even worse.

Alternatives......Anna, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rebecca, Laura, Helen.

itsgettingwierd · 06/04/2021 08:24

I love both.

Actually think Amelia Grace is a lovely name and you get to use both!

KirstenBlest · 06/04/2021 08:35

Neither, both too popular.

MsTSwift · 06/04/2021 08:36

Are you aware how popular they are? They are the Sarah and Claire of this generation. Fine if you are fine with that

Lemonlemon88 · 06/04/2021 09:37

Even if its popular though it's a minuscule amount of the population. And I have a child with an unpopular name and there are two at nursery of her name, one Amelia and no graces. So call her what you love, not what's popular or not.

Violetlavenders · 06/04/2021 09:55

Some people prefer to have a less common name, a name that they don't share with others at school or the office, a name that doesn't date them to a particular time period.

Mamajules43 · 06/04/2021 11:19

@FedNlanders

I prefer grace just because Amelia is a name of a disorder.
A disorder?

Grace is a classic name and has been around for generations

What would your suggestions of a name be?

I think Amelia and Grace are quite classic names that happen to be very popular - so more like the Laura and Sarah of the 80's, than the Gemma and Nicola for example. I suspect they'll still be used in reasonable numbers 30 years from now , even if/when they fall out of the top 100 so I wouldn't panic too much about them dating imo.

But OP if you want a first name less overused currently- instead of Amelia consider Aurelia, Amara, Julia, Lydia, Victoria, Celia, Cecilia, Cordelia, Lilia, Claudia etc. Instead of Grace - Greta, Rose, Maeve, Eve, May, Faye, Hope, Faith, Verity, Felicity etc (some of these are top 100 but no where near as popular as Amelia and Grace).

SionnachRua · 06/04/2021 11:24

Amelia is a birth defect of lacking one (or more) limbs afaik. Or having a shrunken/deformed limb.

Tbh I think they're both very generic names. That can be good or bad...an Amelia Smith is far harder to find online than a Paizylinn Smith or a Petunia Smith, I suppose. I'd put Anna in the generic box too personally. They wouldn't be for me but I can see how the anonymity element might be nice.

itsgettingwierd · 06/04/2021 11:26

Felicity Rose would make a lovely name from list above.

fruitbrewhaha · 06/04/2021 11:26

Elizabeth is better. Various ways of shortening it.

Tempusfudgeit · 06/04/2021 11:27

Whatever you do, don't spell it this way! It hurts my brain.

Grace

Bibidy · 06/04/2021 14:13

I think they are both lovely but bear in mind that they are both sooo popular right now (and for the last several years) so she may end up being 'Amelia C' or 'Grace T' for her school years if you do choose one of them.

Amelia/Emilia in particular I hear all the time.

Ninkanink · 06/04/2021 14:28

I love both.

LittleTiger007 · 06/04/2021 14:38

I love both names... we are considering Amelie Grace for our baby if it’s a girl. Personally I love the meaning of grace and prefer it as a middle name. I don’t care that it’s a popular middle name, it’s lovely.

SionnachRua · 06/04/2021 14:48

Tetra-Amelia?

No idea personally, I've just seen it on MN and then looked it up myself. I can't imagine many people know about the Amelia = limb defect thing tbf.
