It's quite surnamey, and quite American to my ears. But it's inoffensive, if you like it, go for it.

It's nice imo.

It has a nicer sound than other surname names (thinking of beauties like Parker, Carter).

I know one who was named after Eminem - but the name sounds very solid, very Marshall Plan (the brainchild of US General George Marshall). He's a lovely boy.

Prefer similar Mitchell if you want to do the "surname as given name" thing - like pp Marshall does remind me of Eminem/is more US sounding to me.

I've just realized how out of touch I am.
I made no connection with Eminem and Marshall until everyone else mentioned it.

Marshall is the name of the character in "How I Met Your Mother".

Also, it is a current job / activity. Unlike Archer, Fletcher, Carter or Cooper. He could end up being 'Marshall Marshall'.

Like Covid Marshalls?

That’s the first thing that springs to mind and so I’m not at all keen. Then Marshall Mathers. And then this is more “niche” but there’s a big cheap clothing chain in the US called Marshalls so it seems a bit like calling your kid Matalan to me. But obviously wouldn’t be an issue if UK based.

I don’t think it’s terrible, although it’s not my style, but “Skye! Rocky!” comes after it...
if this is your first and you’ve yet to come across paw patrol, I envy you.
