For a boy, obviously!

Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

When I was a child I knew a kid called Roscoe. He was very cool, blond floppy hair and a skateboarder. I always really liked the name after knowing him.

I’m kind of fulfilling Orphlids prediction here - I sort of thing it’s quite fun, but I also think that surname names are getting v popular for boys, and I suspect that they will end up collectively getting a downmarket rep, just because surname names tend to go that way when they get popular (eg Ryan, Tyler)... so for that reason I wouldn’t.

RuthW · 28/03/2021 10:00

I quite like it. There was a character recently in It's a Sin with the name.

I'm 52 and have never seen The Dukes of Hazard.

Etihad · 28/03/2021 10:04

Please don’t if you live anywhere near Greater Manchester. Roscoe’s Roundabout often makes it onto the traffic news.

May2021Mummy · 28/03/2021 10:13

I quite like it and I've never seen dukes of hazard so it wouldn't bother me

It doesn't seem like a name many mumsnet people would like but if you like it there's nothing wrong with it

We've chosen the name Dexter and that's a very marmite name on here 😂 but I still love it

Veex21 · 28/03/2021 10:21

I like it.

FartnissEverbeans · 28/03/2021 20:51

I love it! It’s on my list. In fact I was thinking of starting my own thread Smile

I just think it’s a cool name and it’s fun to say. I’ve never watched Dukes of Hazard and I don’t think it’s a well-known reference amongst my generation - I’m late thirties - so that doesn’t bother me.

violetmonster · 28/03/2021 21:00

I like it and love Ross as a nickname

Changeythenamey · 29/03/2021 19:22

Love it!!

zigaziga · 29/03/2021 19:24

I’ve seen much worse on here.

Not to my tastes but it’s not particularly objectionable.

Historytoo · 29/03/2021 19:42

Also thinking of Roscoe P Coltrain here...

Smidge001 · 29/03/2021 19:49

Definitely Roscoe P Coltrane, and I'm early 40s. Dukes of Hazzard was huge when I was growing up

TatianaBis · 29/03/2021 20:01

I know an Australian called Roscoe nn Ross.

I think it’s fine.

mamah2019 · 29/03/2021 23:16

I really like it!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 29/03/2021 23:21

Nah, Ross is nice though

Thedogscollar · 29/03/2021 23:52

Nope from me and Ross as a nnHmm well people will think that's his proper name.

MerryChristmasToYou · 30/03/2021 09:48

Ross is nicer

LeaveMyDamnJam · 30/03/2021 09:55

My first thought was Roscoe Tanner. (Tennis player with a big serve).

MUM2TJ · 30/03/2021 11:18

We had a rottweiler dog called Roscoe when we were growing up.

Piggyhoolier · 30/03/2021 11:25

I said this out loud a few times to mull it over and decided that I like it. Then from nowhere Tesco popped into my head and something about the similarities in that and Roscoe has put me off a bit. Could be my accent though, I don’t maybe emphasise the Ross-Coe so it’s nearer Russ-Coe which sounds dead close to Tesco.

I’d think a baby Roscoe had a cool name regardless

skeggycaggy · 30/03/2021 11:32

I'm late 30s, and I'm from Manchester, and I have no associations with the name Roscoe. I know one who must be about 5 now? I am not particularly keen on surname names myself but I think it is fine...

VenusClapTrap · 01/04/2021 07:47

I can’t get past the Dukes of Hazard character. No.
