Elisha for a girl...

Thoughts? The one in the Old Testament was definitely a boy, but the ONS stats show Elisha is more commonly used for girls, and had a moment about 15 years ago. I like the sound of it, and the Biblical vibe matches DS’s name. But does it look misspelled / dated / like we didn’t think there were any actual women good enough to be named after?

I'd assume it was a boys name, pronounced El-eye-sha, but once I'd been corrected I would get it right thereafter.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Elisha was a girl pronounced El-ee-sha, it just wouldn't be my first thought.

The biblical male name is pronounced El-EYE-sha.

For a girl it's pronounced El-EE-sha.

I don't have a problem with it as a female name at all, the spelling makes it look rather feminine anyway.

The only Elisha I know is in her 20s and she doesn't seem to have any problems with it.

It is a Jewish male name, similar to Elijah. Used as a female name it looks misspelled and clumsy, and a bit '90s mean girl, tbh. How about:

Elissa
Elise
Elysia (as in the Elysian Fields)
Alyssa
Alessia

Very nice. I would need to be told how to spell it if I heard it though. But that might just be me and it's not a problem as lots of people have to spell their names out.

I immediately thought of elisha Dixon but judging from posts above that's probably not how she spells it?
I also thought it was a girls name.

Also meant to say that I would pronounce it el-ee-sha. I like it.

It’s Alesha Dixon.

I know a girl Elisha who is ... 21?
I like other names better but Elisha is inoffensive.

Way too many spelling/pronunciation issues for me sorry
