How does this sound?

One of the names my husband and I can agree on is Eve, our surname is Green, I thought the two names together didn't flow well and is very Eeee heavy so was going to cross the name off, my husband thinks I'm completely thinking it and the two names sound fine, what do you think?

I think it sounds really nice.

Merrz · 22/03/2021 16:07

I like it, flows well

Easterbunnygettingready · 22/03/2021 16:08

Totally fine. Or add a long middle be to break up the ee's?
Eve Abigail Green.
Eve Lauren Green.

I think it's fine, but when I said it aloud it put me in mind of the actress Eva Green, if that's a consideration.

Plokijuhy · 22/03/2021 16:12

I also thought of Eva green (evergreen!). With my accent eve green really doesn't flow. Evie?

Aquamarine1029 · 22/03/2021 16:15

I don't think it flows well at all. Eve Green. No.

Fnib · 22/03/2021 16:17

Probably does depend on your accent but in mine it's fine. I like it.

ChessieFL · 22/03/2021 16:17

I think a two or more syllable first name would sound better with a one syllable surname.

Knittedfairies · 22/03/2021 16:18

Evelyn Green with Eve for short?

Redridinghood88 · 22/03/2021 16:19

I also like Eva , saying Eva Green out loud made me think of Evergreen, I can decide is Eve Green or Eva Green sound better.

Sorry for all the spelling mistakes. That was meant to say I can't decide if Eve or Eva sound better with Green.

Eva Green sounds better that Eve Green for sure as it breaks up the long e sound you get in both names.

Noodlesnoodlesnoodles · 22/03/2021 16:38

I know what you mean, but it's not awful, so if you love the name I think it's fine. Eva Green flows better, but sounds more like Evergreen, if that bothers you.

How about Ava, Ada or Ivy? Or Evelyn, nn Eve.

Amdone123 · 22/03/2021 16:39

Agree with pp, Evelyn Green. Call her Eve.
I think Eve Green sounds better than Eva Green, too.

SquirtleSquad · 22/03/2021 16:40

Evelyn is lovely and flows nicely.
Eve and Eva are both nice just not quite as well balanced with Green.

mathanxiety · 22/03/2021 20:27

Too much EE.

Evelyn would go better. You could pronounce it Ee-vlyn or Evv- lyn.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/03/2021 20:54

Even though I love the name Eve and it's less popular, Eva Green flows better - the extra "ah" syllable breaks up the two lots of "ee" sounds. It does make me think of the actress, but she seems pretty gorgeous and cool so that may be no bad thing?

AnneTwackie · 22/03/2021 20:56

Could you go for Neve/Niamh?

Ginandplatonic · 22/03/2021 21:01

I think it’s fine if that’s the name you love. Certainly there are names that flow better but it’s not terrible. I don’t think the ee thing is actually an issue, but Eva and Evelyn (and any other 2 syllable name) will flow better with a one syllable surname.

But I prefer just Eve to either of them. If you do too go for it.
