Looking for votes for your favourites, or alternative suggestions based on our tastes, (which are admittedly a bit varied!)

Finding boys names harder than girls, though seem to like more popular girls names. Surname is Scottish and begins Mc.

Girls:
Olivia
Eva
Anna
Emma
Nina
Sienna

Boys:
Andrew (this is a maybe)
Arthur
Malcolm
Owen
Lloyd
Graeme
Murray

Olivia and Arthur.
If Lenny I'd just use that.

Merename · 22/03/2021 20:34

Oh I must’ve missed Murray first time I commented, really like that too but sounds too late now! Kindof agree on the Malky point (Scottish here too) but not sure that would put me off! Do you like Murdo? I really like it but possibly too close to murder Grin

Love Alistair too.

And your username - what about Isa for a girl?! Know Isa from still game isn’t exactly inspiring but it’s a gorgeous name!

Thanks everyone.

Think we're down to:

(Olivia) - though may be too popular
Anna
Emma
Nina

Owen
Andrew (Andy)
Alistair (Ally)
Alexander (Alec)

A lot happier with these shortlists! Await the updated NRS data for Scotland for 2020 to see where they're sitting in the charts.

Oh @Merename , cross posted!

Think we're too late for Murray now 🙈 I do like Murdo!! But DH says no, it's too much with our last name.

I actually really like Isa but I fear Still Game has killed it for a while! 😂👵🏼

Nina is my favourite from your girls list, so lovely. Owen or Alexander are good too on the boys side. I really dislike Olivia, sorry but I never understood its popularity. Good luck choosing.

Merename · 23/03/2021 10:57

I would totally do Isa! If my DH would let me, I love old people names though that many don’t. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Have you seen the new lists? Harris is down one place (but still number 6) and has gone down a bit in my local authority too. Freddie is in my top 3 and is at number 23 but doesn’t feature at all in my LA so I think it could be a possibility again.

Has it changed your mind on any?

isastillgame · 23/03/2021 15:49

@sarah13xx Oh I actually really love Freddie! My friend's little one is Freddie and it just so suits him, such a cool wee name!

I'm not sure how I feel about the NRS lists?! I can't find the council data, where did you see that?

I noticed Olivia isn't top anymore, but only down to second place by a few babies! Conversely though Nina has jumped 40+ places?! So now worried it's going to get super popular 😂🙈

Thought it was funny Andrew and Owen are joint 76, I don't think they're particularly similar but leaning towards those as my fave for boys now I think.
