What do you guys think of this name?

Love it! It's on my list of hypothetical future children's names!

Howshouldibehave · 21/03/2021 00:04

Pekkala! Fab name, but would always associate it with HDM.

@Kitkat151

Needs to be with a ph..... don’t personally like it......but don’t hate it
Really doesn’t need to be with ph at all. Serafina is correct As I said Serafina Di Dio

Unless you live in a country where "f" is typically used instead "ph" (as in Sofia and Josefine), I'd spell it as the more well known Seraphina. It's a nice enough name - perhaps slightly frilly, but it has a pretty sound (and also cute nn options in Sera, Effie and Sephie).

How are you getting Effie from Serafina?
Anoisagusaris · 21/03/2021 00:37

How do you get Finn from it? Am I pronouncing it incorrectly (in my head, as I don’t know anyone called it). Is it not Serapheena/Serafeena?

Ohyesiam · 21/03/2021 00:41

Seriously? You’d give a child with the fabulous name Serafina a nickname which is one of the most common boys’ names of the moment?

Stop press! Someone has a different opinion to you! How could that happen?

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 21/03/2021 00:53

On mn people list diminutives that bear no relation to the name
Finn really is unrelated to serafina as is Effie.
Last week it was Mac nn for Malachy

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/03/2021 00:55

How are you getting Effie from Serafina?

The same way Effie is sometimes used as a nn for Ophelia and Josephine. If there's an "f" or "ph" sound in a multisyllable name then Effie's current popularity/trendiness will generally make it a viable nn choice (doesn't matter that it was originally a nn for Euphemia, that's rarely used now).

Lovely, I had a cousin Seraphina - it’s usually spelt with a ph in the UK - you will get less misspellings that way.

partyatthepalace · 21/03/2021 01:55

... she was always called by her full name.

Way to miss the point of my post.
hullabaloo19 · 21/03/2021 07:57

Really nice. Also his dark materials reference for me :) I'm another who thinks it looks nicer with a ph

hullabaloo19 · 21/03/2021 07:59

And Sephy is a lovely nickname that can be used with it

XiCi · 21/03/2021 09:56

I love it. Prefer it with the f spelling as well

Ellmau · 21/03/2021 11:22

Lovely. I would spell ph if you have only British heritage.

JM10 · 21/03/2021 11:26

I like it. It does immediately make me think of his dark materials, but I like that.

I think I prefer with an f.

I quite like it, though spelt Seraphina. There's also Seren - Welsh for 'star' if you want something with a similar sound which is less of a mouthful. Serena is also very nice.

Chilldonaldchill · 21/03/2021 13:38

I love it.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 21/03/2021 19:59

Lovely, the one I knew was called Sera

CaffiSaliMali · 21/03/2021 22:55

I really like it and I like the Serafina spelling, like in HDM, and Serafina of God.

lobsteroll · 21/03/2021 23:12

I love it, especially spelled with the F

Tambourina · 21/03/2021 23:45

Ph

Enidblyton1 · 22/03/2021 00:00

Love it, especially spelled with an f
