Scandinavian girls names

Hi!
We're due our baby boy in April but worries that they might've got the sex wrong and need a girls name in the bank just in case!
Partner is Scandinavian so justified in having a scandi name.
Can anyone suggest any possibilities?
Thank you :-)

Linnea is gorgeous, although quite popular in parts of Scandinavia. I also love Eira and Elin (both Scandi and Welsh), Sunniva, Suvi and Saga (but I'm not sure how useable this last one would be in the UK).

Freyja is beautiful and she was a beloved goddess in Norse mythology

Unfortunately we already have two Freya's in the family!

I'm not surprised OP it's a lovely name!
Thora/Thorunn are also nice and I've always liked Torvi (I'm not sure the correct spelling I've seen it spelt ey instead of i at the end).

Linnéa (we know a lot of Linnea’s so it’s quite popular as pp mentioned! One has Néa for short which is very sweet)

I think Saga is a gorgeous name and completely usable in UK Smile Tuva, Alma, Hanne, Greta, Elise are all popular here too.

Maxellious · 07/03/2021 23:39

I think the name Anna is nicer in Swedish, pronounced Ah-nah. I also know a Silvia, which is lovely and an Ingrid. I was surprised how many Swedes are called Helen and Sophie! The boys names seem much more different, whereas the girls less so.

PottersParties · 07/03/2021 23:42

Also it’s probably more usual to name a winter baby Lucia, rather than a spring born Smile

Saga has geriatric insurance or holiday connotations IMO Can’t remember which product it is

Your partner would be better off looking at Swedish or Danish websites than asking on a UK based one.

SquirtleSquad · 07/03/2021 23:56

@Frogartist what an incredibly helpful and insightful post. I'm sure OP and all of the people who post on baby name threads are well aware of how google works.
