We think it's a cute name for a little boy and will be a handsome name for a man. We love the possible nicknames Vinny and Vince aswell. We want to hear your opinions. Thanks.

I think it's awful. Sorry.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 07/03/2021 19:01

I don't know any children called Vincent, however it is a common name in Valencia, Spain as the local saint is San Vicente. I've always thought of it as a Catholic name, partly for this reason.

Tsubasa1 · 07/03/2021 19:03

I love it!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 07/03/2021 19:05

I love it! It's on my list for a baby boy. I think it sounds romantic and gothic and artistic.

My only associations are Vincent Price, Vincent Van Gogh and Vince Noir.

My mum has said she doesn't like it as apparently at her school (catholic school in the 70's) it was a "naughty boy" name.

(I'm my 90's catholic school the naughty boys were called Liam)

So maybe it depends on your age and background.

I have a cousin with the name, now in his 40s. To me it's a name that wears well at all ages. He is known as Vincent, Vin, Vince. I think it's a name that is known, has a long history but is not common which are good qualities for a name imo.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/03/2021 19:45

Vincent is nice enough, quite classic but underused. But I couldn't use the name personally as really dislike the nn's Vince and Vinnie (Vince makes me wince and Vinnie is a bit mobster, sorry).

I love it!

I love it - like the V-Man in Home and Away...

Absolutely love it - would have used it for my son if my husband had agreed to it. I think it’s a great name to make cuter when younger and then shorten to Vince as an adult. Where we are it seems to be used by middle class families mainly, not at all “chavvy” (hate that word) as pp said.

I posted about a name yesterday and couldn’t believe how brutally honest people are on these posts 😂 but it’s what you want I suppose! I don’t think I like Vincent, sounds very posh but I do really like Vinnie. Think I prefer the ‘ie’ version to the ‘y’. I think it will become more popular over the next few years

MooseBreath · 08/03/2021 23:29

The only Vincent I know goes by Vin. I like it!

partyatthepalace · 27/03/2021 09:45

Don’t like it - thuggish.

Think it will end up with a Ryan/Taylor type rep quite soon, which will do your so no good.

daisypond · 27/03/2021 09:52

I like Vincent a lot, but Vinnie is awful. It transforms the name, and not in a good way. I did know a classy 20-year-old Vincent, who I’ve known since he was five, and it did seem unusual then.

Lovinglifeand · 27/03/2021 09:54

I love it. I have a very classy friend name Vincent so it has good associations for me.

Whatever name you choose, not everyone will love. So just go with what you feels right for you.
