What do you think and is it still quite uncommon?

It’s quite fashionable now, I know two little Veras, is part of the early 20th century revival (like Margot and Lena). I don’t like it but many do!

I love it, mostly I think because the personal connections I have of people I know with the name have genuinely been the nicest possible type of person.

Sort of the opposite way to when you can't name your child after a bitter ex or your school bully.

It's a gorgeous name.

To a certain age of the British population, this is Vera.

It's the name of my best friend and I love it.

Very dated currently in the UK, but I can easily see Vera becoming more popular in 10/20 years due to a combination of factors - it's popularity in other parts of Europe, the fact that it has a fairly nice sound and meaning and that names often go in approx 100 year cycles here (so if you used it, you could be ahead of the pack!).

Similar Verity feels more useable/less brave to me at the moment though.

Vera is nice. I thought I'd never teach a Mabel, Stanley or Elsie, but here we are! It's pretty and still unusual.

To me, it's not good, BUT, I totally agree with IamnotwhouthinkIam.

A lot of how names sound is to do with your own age. New Mums at the moment are going to be 30 at least 20 years young than me, so won't have memories of the old ladies with these names, that I do.

Whereas new Mums at the moment, won't call their new babies Debbie, Karen, Susan, Stephen, Keith, Gary - give it 40 years and they will all be very chic again. Life is one big circle it seems when it comes to names.

I actually really like it. Possibly because I knew one - Spanish, lovely, bubbly person.
