Sally-what

Evening all, my mum passed away a couple of years ago and her name was Sally. I like the name but not on its own, I would like to pair it with another name but can't get beyond adapt-Rose (which I know is notorious for being a fluff filler name)

Would appreciate some ideas

Thanks

The first one that sprung to my mind was

Sally-May

With or without hypen. It just seems to go nicely. I know May / Mae is so overused lately but Sally is so rare nowadays that the name stays quite unique compared to the Lily-May's & Ella-May's etc

zigaziga · 23/02/2021 20:30

I find anything other than Sally-Anne sounds wrong, simply because Sally-Anne is the traditional one. Same as Marie-Claire is the classic so Marie-May or whatever sounds odd.

Like a lot of people, I don’t like hyphens though and honestly I’d much rather be a Sally than a Sally-something. If it has to be double barrelled I’d do Sally-Anne or at a push another one syllable name so Sally-Grace or Sally-Jane or something.

Sally-Blythe
Sally-Grace
Sally-Jean
Sally-Jane
Sally-Joy
Sally-June
Sally-Ruth

You could also have Salome or Salma.

KirstenBlest · 26/02/2021 12:34

Not a fan of hyphenated names. Use Sally as a middle name if you don't want it as a first name.

Salome is nice.

If I met a baby sally I’d think it was a sweet name.
Hyphenating it To Sally-Rose / May / Anne etc ruins it for me somewhat.

I know some Sally Ann(e)s, and it seems such a filler middle name for someone born in he 1950s or 1960s.

sausagerollcake · 26/02/2021 18:20

I love Sally on it's own!

itsgettingwierd · 26/02/2021 18:40

Sally on its own is lovely.

I think you'll also find even if you hyphenate it with something she'll get called Sally.

I like Sally-Rose

Also like suggested above of

Sally-Jo
Sally-May
Sally-Eve

raspberryk · 26/02/2021 19:11

Anne or Jayne

MuddleMoo · 26/02/2021 20:08

Sally Jo is nice.
Sally-Niamh

Sally Hannah

If you want it as a middle name I think that would work. Especially as she is named after someone

MuddleMoo · 26/02/2021 20:09

Sally-Jayne or Jane is nice!

mamablondie33 · 26/02/2021 20:13

I really like Sally-Rose!

sweetpotatopie12 · 26/02/2021 23:59

I think shorter names sound good with it:

Sally-Jo
Sally-Lou
Sally-Sue

Frazzled2207 · 27/02/2021 08:46

Just Sally

janedoedeerafemaledeer · 27/02/2021 16:06

Could you use Sally as MN?

janedoedeerafemaledeer · 27/02/2021 16:07

Lucia Sally Surname
Sally-Marie

janedoedeerafemaledeer · 27/02/2021 16:07

Sally-Jean
Willow Sally

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/02/2021 16:13

Not Sally Ann(e) as its a nickname for the Salvation Army.
I prefer names that can stand alone rather than ones that ones that can be hyphenated (even if they are not).
