Is it too similar if I call my daughter Cassandra when I have one Alexandra ?

I guess it depends whether you're likely to use their full names - in which case possibly a bit too similar) - or Cassie and Alex/Lexi - which sounds very different.

Crockof · 11/02/2021 09:48

Yes if you plan to use full names, no if you will call them Alex and Cass/ Cassie

TheRedFox · 11/02/2021 10:25

I think quite similar and people might query whether you've purposefully chosen an "andra" theme

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/02/2021 11:23

The full versions are quite similar, but as pp mentioned - if you regularly use a nn for one of them (Alex/Lexi, Cass/Cassie) then it's fine imo.

I love Cassandra btw -I think it's underused now. But if you are really concerned about the soundalike with Alexandra, you might like the pretty Roman/Nature name Cassia instead?

Baffledma · 11/02/2021 11:28

I wanted to use the full names 😭

OP posts:
emmathedilemma · 11/02/2021 11:48

too similar for me

TinyCake · 11/02/2021 12:06

Ooh I love it.

There's a strong chance she will shorten it to Cassie when she is older even if you use the full names. I love the name Cassie and haven't heard it for ages.

If you love it go for it. The worst that will happen is people will think oh their mum likes names that end in andra.

LivLavender · 11/02/2021 15:10

I like it but not with Alexandra.

Schmoozer · 11/02/2021 15:12

Only fools and horses !!

HeadlessGummyBears · 11/02/2021 16:20

I think Cassandra sounds lovely and can be shortened to Cass/Cassie/Sandy/Sandra. Calling out Alexandra and Cassandra together can sound too cumbersome so you might end shortening their names yourself Grin

micc · 11/02/2021 19:59

Ah sorry OP. It does sound a bit samey and I think you might end up getting them muddled when you speak to them.
My daughter is Clementine and we thought about naming her sister Camilla as we loved Cam as a nick name. But just talking about it we were getting muddled and ended up saying Clam and Cem 🤦‍♀️
But the nick names Cassie and Alex or Lexi sound different enough.
They do sound lovely together though OP it just might be a bit of a tongue twister!

partyatthepalace · 11/02/2021 20:05

It is really.

And I think it will piss them off.

IthinkIm · 11/02/2021 20:06

Too samey I think

Whatsyourflava · 11/02/2021 20:21

I really don't think you'll be successful in using these two names as full names through their lives. Well you might well, but as soon as the children at school it's very likely both will be shortened

Firebird83 · 11/02/2021 23:04

I think it’s fine! Both lovely names.

ColdemortReturns · 11/02/2021 23:06

As long as you're not considering Rodney for your third....

RaininSummer · 11/02/2021 23:21

I like them but do agree that they present a bit of a tongue twister when said together in the full form.

babbaloushka · 11/02/2021 23:24

Maybe Cassia instead? Not too similar.

Gobbeldegook · 11/02/2021 23:44

Only fools and horses is my first thought

zingally · 12/02/2021 15:25

If you plan to use full names, rather than nicknames, it's a bit twee when teamed with her sister.

Spied · 12/02/2021 15:27

Too similar.
Cassandra also is very 80s and not to my taste.
