I like Helena Jane

Not keen on Tess or Mariah

Anya is ok

I really like Tess. I don't really like Mariah. The rest are fine Smile

I like Mariah, it was my Irish great-grandmother's name.

Tess is OK but I prefer Tessa

Jane is too boring for me, Helena too snooty

Anya is an ugly word and reminds me of onion.

Tess, always sounds like it should be short for something, I really like Anya, it is not well used and sounds lovely to me. None of the others grab me.

Tess is gorgeous. I also like Anya (but prefer Anna). Really like Maria (either pronunciation) too but Mariah (this spelling) is all Carey to me, sorry. Helena I can't warm to although objectively it's a good name. Jane is definitely very retro - would be good to see on a baby.

Tess - it's a nickname, I think Tessa or Esther are nicer
Helena - lovely, sophisticated. I guess the only question is would you pronounce it 'Hel-enn-a' or 'Hel-ayn-a'? as people have different ways of saying it
Jane - so dull
Mariah - I really like it although unfortunately Mariah Carey will dominate associations for a while
Anya - ok, not a big fan, very common in certain European countries

So my easy winner would be Helena.

Tess and Anya are my favourites from your list. Both short but sophisticated. So surprised Jane is getting so much love on here!

Love all except Mariah. I like mariya (MAH-ree-a) though
