Just looking for consensus on how you would pronounce this name at first guess. It’s a bit of a Naomi issue - Lee-O-nee, LEE-uh-nee, or LAY-o-nee.

Don’t care what it ‘should’ be, just what you’d plump for upon first meeting one. As it happens I like them all! Just wonder if it would be a burden.

I would pronounce Leonie to rhyme with the beginning of Fiona but instead of ending in a end in ee

@lorettAspaghettA that’s a good description.

I once had a customer call and her name was Oenone (ee-no-nee) she was very elderly and I told her I loved her name - she recommended never using it 😄

I’d say Lee-OH-nee, but I have heard it pronounced Lay-OH- nee.

It’s a lovely name either way.

Lee O nee. I knew a wonderful Leonie at university - fantastic name. And pronunciation didn't seem to be a problem for anyone.

Just adding to the mix - I went to school with a girl who pronounced it Lainey and skipped over the OH sound!

Lay O Nee but the 2 I know spell it Léonie (which I would also do if I was to choose it)

I'm a Leonie & I have only ever met another 2 in my life (26) I do constantly get called Leona or Naomi. It's actually gotten to the point where I dont correct people anymore !

I knew a couple growing up and they were both LEE-uh-nee

Personally I think that's a bit classier than Lee-OH-nee

(PS Leonie was my girl's name of choice, never got to use it so glad others are!)

I suppose you might get LEE-uh-nee

LAY-o-nee - seems unlikely

Leonora is a nice version.
