Just looking for consensus on how you would pronounce this name at first guess. It’s a bit of a Naomi issue - Lee-O-nee, LEE-uh-nee, or LAY-o-nee.

Don’t care what it ‘should’ be, just what you’d plump for upon first meeting one. As it happens I like them all! Just wonder if it would be a burden.

I guess that should be more like LAY-uh-nee actually.

Lee-O-nee

I know a Leora too which is nice.

Bubbles1st · 07/02/2021 22:13

Lee o nee

That's all I see

Alfxn · 07/02/2021 22:14

I know a Lee-OH-nee

GA8RIELLA · 07/02/2021 22:14

I know two and they both say it Lay OH ni .

stormelf · 07/02/2021 22:14

Lee-o-nee

lorettAspaghettA · 07/02/2021 22:14

I would pronounce Leonie to rhyme with the beginning of Fiona but instead of ending in a end in ee

lorettAspaghettA · 07/02/2021 22:15

But I've never met any so it's just a guess

lalalalands · 07/02/2021 22:15

I would say LAY-o-nee or LEE-o-nee. Beautiful name Smile

Lanique · 07/02/2021 22:16

Lee o nee.

Love it btw.

Lanique · 07/02/2021 22:16

Sorrry I meant Lee O nee!

PolarnOPirate · 07/02/2021 22:16

@lorettAspaghettA that’s a good description.

I once had a customer call and her name was Oenone (ee-no-nee) she was very elderly and I told her I loved her name - she recommended never using it 😄

Lee-OH-Nee

LindaCartersBun · 07/02/2021 22:18

I’d say Lee-OH-nee, but I have heard it pronounced Lay-OH- nee.

It’s a lovely name either way.

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 07/02/2021 22:18

I know 2 Lee-o-nees

hallodarknessmyoldfriend · 07/02/2021 22:19

Lovely name x

cactusrevolution · 07/02/2021 22:19

Lee O nee. I knew a wonderful Leonie at university - fantastic name. And pronunciation didn't seem to be a problem for anyone.

PolarnOPirate · 07/02/2021 22:20

Thanks, almost unanimous so far. V helpful!

Just adding to the mix - I went to school with a girl who pronounced it Lainey and skipped over the OH sound!

LegoCardSwapper · 07/02/2021 22:23

Lay O Nee but the 2 I know spell it Léonie (which I would also do if I was to choose it)

Mamascoven · 07/02/2021 22:26

I'm a Leonie & I have only ever met another 2 in my life (26) I do constantly get called Leona or Naomi. It's actually gotten to the point where I dont correct people anymore !

nanbread · 07/02/2021 22:29

I knew a couple growing up and they were both LEE-uh-nee

Personally I think that's a bit classier than Lee-OH-nee

(PS Leonie was my girl's name of choice, never got to use it so glad others are!)

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 07/02/2021 22:29

Lay-OH-nee, it's glorious

I know a Leonora too

caringcarer · 07/02/2021 23:03

Lee o nee but would ask child or parent, how she pronounced it.

partyatthepalace · 07/02/2021 23:08

Lee-O-nee - only one I’ve heard

I suppose you might get LEE-uh-nee

LAY-o-nee - seems unlikely

Leonora is a nice version.
