Baby brother for Emrys

Hi all, I'm posting out of desperation as we are really struggling with baby names for our DS due in March.
We already have one DS called Emrys. Bit of a background: we live in Wales non-welsh speaking so would only go for another Welsh name if it could be pronounced properly by non-native speakers. Loved Idris and Emlyn but both are too similar to Emrys.
Basically excluded all the Welsh names we like. Now on to other names... What does everyone think of:
Aiden, Rowan or Ethan?
Bit nervous of using the same initial twice too, any opinions?

@Arrierttyclock

I think Macsen goes really nicely with Emrys
Ditto, I love both Macsen and Emrys, I think they fit really well together . Also like Huw, Ioan, and Iolo (or Iorwerth)

Nye would be dead easy for non welsh speakers! Even the long version- we spell it Aneirin - isn't a problem for our English speaking friends!

Like Aidan best of your list.

I love Aneurin,

And I know Arthur isn’t a Welsh name specifically but has Welsh associations w Kong Arthur and is a fab name.

CaffiSaliMali · 04/02/2021 08:30

Arthur is lovely but as Emrys is an alternative name for Merlin I wouldn't use it for Emrys' brother.

MechantGourmet · 04/02/2021 09:30

Yes, it would be a little odd!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 04/02/2021 11:45

Oh btw of your choices, I'd definitely pick Rowan - has a subtle mystical feel like Emrys does. (As Emrys is an alternate name for Merlin, and Rowan trees have spiritual protection links). Both names also have a matching poetic feel to me (despite Rowan's popularity), far more so than Ethan or Aiden.

CormoranStrike · 04/02/2021 20:32

Idris - not too similar at all
Huw
Tomas

CormoranStrike · 04/02/2021 20:36

Rowan and Griffin are also v nice

EuphieKat · 05/02/2021 00:01

What about Harri or Tomis?

EuphieKat · 05/02/2021 00:02

Grr- meant to type Tomos!

CrochetOrBust · 05/02/2021 00:13

I like Gareth, although that is quite dated.

FranKatzenjammer · 05/02/2021 12:04

NoAuthorityHereJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 11:27

What about Wynne?

YoniAndGuy · 06/02/2021 14:23

Flynne?

YoniAndGuy · 06/02/2021 14:42

Gwynne?

Fluffythefish · 06/02/2021 14:45

I know a family with an Emrys and a Hywel

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 07/02/2021 22:03

Emrys is ace. I loved Rhydian when I was pregnant. What about Henry or Felix?

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 07/02/2021 22:08

Or Ivan/Ifan?

NoAuthorityHereJackieWeaver · 07/02/2021 22:20

Rhys Ian and Rhodri are cool
