Is Arnold unusable, or is it kind of cool and cute? Arnold with the nickname Arnie?

We like Albert / Arthur type names, but can't use either of those.

Other possibilities are Bernard (Bernie) and Ernest (Ernie/Ern), but again, not sure if people would think any of these were a step too far with the "old man" thing.

I quite like it.
Recent names Frankie and Eddie.

I like all three. Recognisable but not too trendy.

Can't see why not. It's a very old classic name that travels well internationally. And is easy to spell and pronounce! Far worse names like Wilfred and Rupert have been revived. And there's an array of eclectic Arnolds

Arnold Schwarzenegger
Hey Arnold
Matthew Arnold

Ernie though is AWFUL. One vowel can make all the difference.

I have to say I think Arnold is no worse than Archie, Albert or Arthur. These are all very popular names and I think I quite like it.
Bernie is my oldest sons name. He’s 18 now. It is a family name passed down but I said no to Bernard. Kept it Bernie to fall in line with the trends of Alfie, Archie etc (not usually Alfred or Archibald). He likes his name and there are no others with the same name to get confused with or need to use last name initial to identify between.
