Lucienne

I had a dream last night that I named my daughter Lucienne and also Lucia (same baby just her name kept changing) and I can't get the name Lucienne out of my head today. It seems so gentle and sweet and vintage. What do you think? The last name that I dreamed my baby was called I actually used for my daughter!

Dd2 is called a name i dreamt we had a baby called. She has an a ending over the e ending in my dream. Oddly she looked exactly like my dream at 6 months

Lucienne is pretty is it possible you used lucia as a nickname

I like it, but I would be worried that a lot of people wouldn't know how to pronounce it properly if I didn't live in a French-speaking country.

What about Lucille? I used to know a Lucille

Lucienne is ok but is it Lucy-enn or Lushien?

Lucy is popular, so Lucienne could be in a class with Lucy A, Lucy M. ...

I prefer Lucy to Lucia, and don't really like Lucienne or Lucille.

May be regional, @KirstenBlest. I work in a school with over 500 children, but only one Lucy.

Lu-chee-a and Lu-chee-enne, or Lu-see-a and Lu-see-enne?

I like both but prefer the first way of saying them.

@Bluesername Lu chee enne doesn't really make sense. The -enne bit suggest a French pronunciation and ci isn't a tch sound in French.

I think it’s gorgeous. We couldn’t use it because Dh has an aunt Lucienne, but whenever we see her I always think what a beautiful name.

Pretty, with a very French feel to me. I think it would get pronounced "Lucy - en" usually in the UK though, if that matters. It is a bit unisex since it sounds so similar to boys version Lucien, but Lucien isn't very popular so I don't think it matters.

Can’t beat Lucie Anne

Ah I was going to use Lucienne if I had had a girl I love the Belgian designer Lucienne Day.

I know two teenage boys called Lucien so I think that puts me off Lucienne.
I really like Lucia though I prefer the loo-SEE-uh pronunciation which I know is not usually considered correct.

I know a beautiful grown up Lucienne (loo-see-enn) nn Lucie. Really like this name, it’s sophisticated and a breath of fresh air.

I’ve taught hundreds of children and young adults and I’ve NEVER taught a single Lucy or Lucie! The Lucy and Lucies I know are all in their 30s bar one little girl around 10 who is a friend of a friend’s daughter. I also know a mid 20s Lucia.

I like Lucille too.

Forgot to say the Lucia I know goes by Loo-sha. I much prefer the traditional Italian Loo-CHEE- uh

I think it’s pretty clear how to say it, but having people mistakenly say Lucien the first time is not a big deal anyway.

I like Lucia also, but only with the traditional European 3 syllable pronunciation. The American Loo-sha is awful.

You could go for 70s posh revival with Lucinda also 😁 - but not Lucy which is pedestrian.

Lucy-a is correct, as are Loose-ee-a, Loosha and Lu-chee-a.
It's a name used in many countries.
