purplejungle · 12/01/2021 14:46

Love it 😍. Also like Jacob, Peter, Hamish, Frederick, James and Rupert

BikeRunSki · 12/01/2021 14:47

Love it, massively underused!

ValpolicellaPrimitivo · 12/01/2021 14:52

I like it, I also really like Gregory.

iamme21 · 12/01/2021 15:17

Love it, I have one!

emmathedilemma · 12/01/2021 17:06

Love it, agree that it's massively underused in the UK.

Aquamarine1029 · 12/01/2021 17:07

Sorry, I don't like it, and I really hate the nn Pat.

dementedma · 12/01/2021 17:12

Love it. It was on our list along with James, Joseph, Matthew...

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/01/2021 17:20

Nice, uncommon classic (although I hate the nn Pat, but I think that's rarely used now). A similar feeling name to me would be Michael and perhaps Peter, Phillip, Robert, John, Richard and Stephen.

YoniAndGuy · 12/01/2021 18:17

Horrible - really can't bear it - just fat and squadgy sounding name. Pat is just a terrible short form, it's a middle-aged woman (with huge earrings Grin ) not a little boy.

Spottybluepyjamas · 12/01/2021 18:19

Love it, but hate Pat or Paddy as a nn

The one I know is Pat - there's no other option except Paddy really is there? - which is possibly worse!

This is the kind of name that everyone says they like, ooh unusual classic etc, but no-one, when push comes to shove, actually wants to call their child it!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/01/2021 18:22

Love it! I know several unshortened Patrick's, a Pat, a Paddy, a Patch and a few Pádraigs. I also know an older man called Patsy but that probably wouldn't do in the UK.

Ellapaella · 12/01/2021 18:39

I have a Patrick, he goes by 'Paddy' even though Patrick is his full name.

Ellapaella · 12/01/2021 18:40

@YoniAndGuy well I did 😂

TerribleCustomerCervix · 12/01/2021 18:46

Love it- it’s on the list for a potential ds2.

V classic and underused.

FluffyEggsontoast · 12/01/2021 19:59

Love it. Never understand why it's not more popular

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/01/2021 20:05

I would assume a few go by Rick - which is a kinda retro cool name? (thinking of Bogie in Casablanca). Although I understand Patrick Swayze was known as Buddy.... Still Patrick is only 2 syllables so maybe it wouldn't get a nn/shortened?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/01/2021 20:05

daisypond · 12/01/2021 20:51

I like it.

finallychangedmyusername · 12/01/2021 21:11

I think it's a very handsome name. I like Patch as a nickname for a little Patrick.
