I know they’re both popular that does not put me off as they’re both family names just cannot decide which we prefer...

My little boy is called Frankie. That's his full name on his birth certificateSmile I do call him Frank's alot tho! Although he's 7 now so not so little anymore
@daisypond funnily enough I think Francis is terrible and would never call a baby’s that.
The op asked for either Archie or Frankie no need to be so rude.
Op Frankie all the way
I also think Francis is terrible.

Frankie.
Francis is awful, Franklin is better for a ‘long’ version, but just Frankie is fine IMO.
Never understood the need for ‘options’ IRO a name.
If they hate it that much it’s less than 50 quid for a deed poll 🤷‍♀️

Yep, Franklin nn Frankie.

Archie is almost as bad as Alfie.

Archie by a long way. Congratulations!

Why choose? Frankibald! I'll get my coat

pricklymole · 13/01/2021 03:24

Frank, nn frankie

Both are very ‘cutesy’ and I think a person deserves a name that isn’t babyish. I think Frankie manages to be both cutesy and clunky sounding so for that reason I would choose Archie but I dislike both considerably.

For those who say why put longer names on a birth certificate, it is to give the child and adult that the baby will become, a choice. Especially if the name given is one that many dislike. If lots do not like it, it is fair to say it will not be loved by the person who gets it.

People need a name that's going to work for three stages of their lives - young childhood, teenager and then adult with a professional career. Both Frankie & Archie are fine as baby and teenager names. I prefer Archie personally although Frankie can be shortened to Frank for work purposes & I'm not sure how Archie fits. I can't imagine an Archie opening a board meeting for example.
