Last post for now..... I promise!
Robyn or Erin?
While do you prefer and why?
Older siblings Noah and Jacob. Short one syllable surname beginning with B.

Thank you.

Robyn

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 09/01/2021 09:49

I prefer the traditionally male (in England anyway) spelling of Robin - I think it's pretty, I find Robyn a bit clunky (possibly all feelings due to people I've known!)

I don't like Erin - but again the three I've known have all been unpleasant.

As long as your surname isn't Bird I'd go with Robin.

daisypond · 09/01/2021 09:50

Hm. Robyn is not nice at all. Erin is fine - if you have Irish roots. I wouldn’t use it otherwise. Neither go very well with Noah and Jacob, if that bothers you.

DueMay2021 · 09/01/2021 09:54

I love both these names however my OH decided he didn't like Erin 😢 turns out we are having a boy anyway but if it was just up to me Erin would be my first choice closely followed by Robyn

JustanotherTuesday · 09/01/2021 09:59

They are both lovely and go well with the other names. I know an Erin and she is a sweet, funny little girl.
I would wait and see if one in particular suits her when she's born. We ended up choosing an entirely different name for our youngest, we had never considered before as it just seemed more suitable.

EdgeOfACoin · 09/01/2021 10:05

Prefer Erin.

Neither really go with Jacob and Noah.

FluffyEggsontoast · 09/01/2021 10:25

Erin much nicer
Robin I like for a boy. Now you're having a girl after two boys I think it'd be odd choice to pick a masculine sounding name (just giving my view- plenty will disagree I expect )

How about Edith, Eliza or Wren (sounds similar), Esther

YourWurstNightmare · 09/01/2021 10:30

I love Erin. I think it's due a comeback.

daisypond · 09/01/2021 10:37

@YourWurstNightmare

I love Erin. I think it's due a comeback.
It is back! I know lots - from late teens to primary school age - all with Irish links, though.
WhoseThatGirl · 09/01/2021 10:39

Erin but both are lovely

JamieFrasersSwingingKilt · 09/01/2021 10:54

Both are lovely. I know American sisters called Robyn and Erin. They're in their 40s now. Great women. Robyn is the eldest and is blonde while Erin is brunette and is a vet. Maybe the extra bit of info could help you make a decision? Also, you could just wait until the baby arrives and see which name she suits better...?

Shelby30 · 09/01/2021 11:11

Erin is lovely, personally I really don't like Robyn.

Calmondeck · 09/01/2021 11:18

Another vote for Erin!

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 09/01/2021 11:20

Both are lovely, but if your surname is Banks, dont go for Robyn!Grin

Lockdownlovernotfromliverpool · 09/01/2021 11:27

How would your friends and family pronounce? Ndn dd's was Urin.... Sounded bloody awful!
Robyn is lovely.

yankeedoodledandee · 09/01/2021 11:28

I prefer Erin, I wouldn't use it though as it's really common.

yankeedoodledandee · 09/01/2021 11:29

I wouldn't use it here though Blush

I'm in Scotland

Teakind · 09/01/2021 11:31

Erin is a beautiful and elegant name, in my opinion

Fluffyandsilly · 09/01/2021 11:32

Both lovely, but Robyn pips it for me.

Pudding01 · 09/01/2021 11:50

Like both. I have an Erin and she gets many positive comments on her name 😊 Only ever met one other child with the name in 4 years and I like that it isn't popular

Cotswoldmama · 09/01/2021 11:52

I love Erin. I like Robyn too but I really don't like the female spelling of it! I like that Erin isn't girly, I hate frilly names and I feel like an Erin could be/do anything. My cousin is an Erin and is lovely so maybe I'm bias!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/01/2021 11:54

Erin works better with the boys names to me. I also prefer it over Robyn which looks a bit dated with the Y imo.

MercyBodle · 09/01/2021 13:01

Both are nice, but with short B surname Erin will possibly sound better.

sandandso · 09/01/2021 13:04

Erin. There's something about the Y in Robyn I don't like. Though the bird association is quite cute.

EileenGC · 09/01/2021 13:06

I like both. Would choose Robyn as a stand-alone but I think Erin goes better with the siblings' names. Depends on whether you want them to 'go' or not.
