Alliteration with S

Just looking for options for future DS or DD. I normally love names and surnames that start with the same letter however my married name has two Ss. Think Simpson. Would something like Sarah Simpson or Sean Simpson be too much (not actual my names) My main concern is that the child will definitely have a lisp if I go down this route 🙈

I think that sounds fine!

It sounds ok but you can also play on the middle sound of the surname for a nice effect. Eg
Millie Simpson
Mark Simpson

Or even the last letter of the surname

Natalie Simspon
Nate Simpson

Even if they have any speech issues, having an S name helpful as they then hear it and repeat it a lot. Likely helpful long term lisp wise.

In example described, s simpson doesn't seem too much.

Thanks feeling more confident about it now. @Lizadork great point, I never thought of it that way. Practice makes perfect as they say!

Sean would be OK because it's pronounced differently. Not keen on true alliteration, it too often sounds comic.

From someone who grew up with an S alliterative name I would say definitely don't do it.

BikeRunSki · 02/01/2021 00:10

I was going to say it’s a thusly business if your child is likely to lisp.

BikeRunSki · 02/01/2021 00:33

No idea what “thusly” means in my previous post. I meant “risky”. I loosed as a child, but at least I only had one “s” sound to deal with.

Sean Simpson doesn't alliterate but Stephen Simpson does. Both are fine.
Sam Simpson or Samson Simpson might be a bit too much.

Sausage

I’m one of these and really dislike the initials SS, so I’d chuck a middle name in there too.
