My dh and I both really like the name Rosie, were not keen on the longer versions so would just be Rosie, I have noticed it is quite high up the charts now, number 14 I believe, would you say thats too popular? Likely to have multiple girls at school with the same name?
Another name we both like is Clara.

Clara recently entered the Top 100 and it has been mentioned on here a lot so I imagine it'll climb the polls.

Rosie is currently higher up in the Top 100 than names that are occasionally described as "overused" and "very popular" on here such as:
Chloe, Sophie, Daisy, Ellie, Rose, Charlotte etc.

I'm only saying this to give you more information and perspective, definitely not to put you off using it.

Only you can really decide if Rosie is "too popular" or not. I like both Rosie and Clara, they're both lovely names and it's fab that you've found two you both really like and agree on.

One of my children is called Rose, but we call her Rosie often.

It is a name that I was only 90% sold on when she was born but now I love it so, so much.

Rosie is such a pretty name

mummymathsteacher · 31/12/2020 12:11

I have a Rosie under the age of 5. She is yet to meet another one her age! It's a complete lottery. I have ended up with multiple Patricia's in one class, believe it or not, and I highly doubt that's in the top 100!

TashaTick · 31/12/2020 12:17

I have a Rosie (though we spell it Rosy as it's a nickname) - she's legally a Rosanna.

Herewegoagain4 · 31/12/2020 16:45

I do really love Rosie, I guess it must be popular if 3 out of the 6 replys have a Rosie, will have to decide if that would bother us or not.

I don't know any of either name personally but Clara is much nicer imo - sounds more like it would suit all ages. I have trouble imagining Rosie on an adult as it's so cute sounding, plus descriptive (a rosy face, rosy blush etc).

munchbunch12 · 31/12/2020 21:10

I love the name Rosie, but some people may associate it with the Richie Sambora (of Bon Jovi) song of the same name, which I also love, but is about a lap-dancer...

I’m a Rosie (a 29 year old one). I never had another Rosie in my school year and it’s never been an issue in my professional life but I do get a lot of people telling me their pets are called Rosie 😂 I hate being called Rose as a nickname though- it feels too old fashioned to me!

partyatthepalace · 31/12/2020 21:54

I like them both but there are an awful lot of Rose, Rosa and Rosies... so I would go for Clara which is popular but not so much.

If you did go for Rosie it’s v cute, so would personally consider Rose or Rosanna etc as a full name in case she wants something more sophisticated when she grows up

sandandso · 31/12/2020 22:14

I'd no idea it was so popular now - I've never met a baby Rosie. Actually, I don't think I've met anyone who has it as a full name. Why not Rose? Then she has a more formal option.

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 01/01/2021 23:02

Its popular but nor OVER popular to the point it has been destroyed. It is a lovely name. It has always been popular and woll continue to be, i would imagine, but i don't think you need to be put off using it. Personally i know no child Rosies and two in their late twenties. Basically, it is popilar because it is nice, but the popularity isn't OTT. If you love it, use it!

Pinkjellies · 02/01/2021 11:13

I think Rosie is lovely. I know two Rosies who are in their 30’s and 60’s so don’t think it is just a child’s nickname. As someone who goes by a shortened version of a longer name, think Lizze / Elizabeth, the only time I ever use my formal name is for official documents. I understand why my parents wanted to give me the more formal version of my name but I always seems like they’re calling someone else in the doctor’s surgery!

ellenleaves · 02/01/2021 11:20

It's a lovely name! I only know one young Rosie, she's 5. I like Rose a lot too.

Cbeebiesrehab · 02/01/2021 18:08

I know four Claras but no Rosies/Roses.
