Is this combination of names over the top?

We are expecting our second girl. Out first is called Isabella Marie. She’s occasionally Bella.
So far am liking Evalina for the new baby but wonder if Isabella and Evalina is a bit to similar?
Elowen is another contender, but don’t like the nickname Ellie so instead would be Elle. Bella and Elle are also crazy similar.
Any thoughts on whether they just sound silly together?

Evalina is beautiful and not too similar in my opinion.

Knucklehead101 · 28/12/2020 17:16

How about Evangeline? Evalina is pretty too though x

Firebird83 · 28/12/2020 17:27

I like Evelina spelled this way.

bridgetreilly · 28/12/2020 18:09

Isabella and Evelina is fine.

NataliaOsipova · 28/12/2020 18:11

I think they sound a bit “samey”. Sorry. And Bella and Elle far too similar. “What are your children’s names?” is a common question to be asked; you will end up saying them together a lot.

CousinLucy · 28/12/2020 18:16

Evalina nn Evie? Bella and Evie ☺️

daisypond · 28/12/2020 18:29

It’s quite similar but I think it’s OK. I’d shorten to Lina.

daisydalrymple · 28/12/2020 18:30

Evalina is beautiful. Not at all too similar to Isabella, but they do go lovely together.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/12/2020 18:32

What about Evaline? Evie for nn.

Cam2020 · 28/12/2020 18:35

Evelina or Evangeline.
Evangeline was on my list 💖

EileenGC · 28/12/2020 18:38

I prefer the Evelina spelling, is more widely recognised.

Then sounds are similar (L's between consonants, V and B) IYSWIM but the names themselves aren't.

Do you a nickname already? Or would she get the full name?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/12/2020 18:42

Beautiful name but I would spell it Evelina - it's the more common spelling in Europe and the UK too (where the name was well used in the middle ages and in the 18th/19th Century after the eponymous Burney novel was published.)

Evelina and Isabella are not too similar imo - they are a perfect match as both are 4 syllable and have a feminine, elegant, European feel. Lena or Eva are nice nn's if you want one.

Elowen is a nice enough name, but not as good a fit with Isabella and Elle is too similar to Bella.

partyatthepalace · 28/12/2020 18:55

I think Isabella and Evelina (think that’s the usual spelling) work fine, but agree Bella and Elle are too much. Could you use Eva or Lena and short forms? Or Gwen if it’s Elowen?!

All lovely names. Evangeline is a nice alternative as suggested by PPs. Leonora? Emilia, Emma?

PattyPan · 28/12/2020 19:07

I think Evelina would be fine with Isabella. Great book! Bella and Elle are too similar.

Arh yes, Fanny Burney - not a name I'd have recommended had her mother sought advice on MN, but always makes me chuckle ☺️

What about Adeline/Adelina?
