I have found that I like names that fall into 1 or 2 of these categories for example: Nerina, Ariadne, Meriel, Marissa, Rosalind etc

What others can you suggest, boy & girl.

Ionia? Greek and sea. Stress on the ‘ni’ in Greek I think.

Girls - Persephone, pandora, juliet, ophelia, helen, una...

Boys - benedick, sebastian, jason...

Also, v jealous. I would have loved Persephone for my DD but our surname is basically Jones and DH vetoed on the basis of it sounding ridiculous as a whole name.

As pp have mentioned, Nerissa and Marina would be your best options since they are both obviously Shakespearean AND with sea meanings (and imo gorgeous to boot!)

Other names that I don't think have been mentioned yet - Nereida or Ondine (sea themed), Illyria (Shakespeare place name)

There are many many sea nymphs in Greek mythology. I don’t think most of the names are very usable these days but I’m fond of Clio (despite the car) and Thetis.

I've just come across Elysia, which I love.

crabette · 29/12/2020 13:40

(Meaning from Elysium, which relates to the Elysian Fields - the final resting place of the souls of the heroic and the virtuous in Greek mythology and religion.)
