Hi. I recently saw a thread for Indian girls names and i was surprised to see so many options and names I hadn't even heard of.

I want a name that will be easy to pronounce. I don't want a traditional long name that will end up being shortened.

My thoughts so far are Sami or Dhani. So not traditional at all. Thanks in advance x

Sahib
Karan
Joshun
Amar
Rohan

Just to add my kids have longer indian names and their teachers and friends use their proper names. Most people are quite respectful of that. X

Jai

@Trailing1 thanks. Amar would be my fave out of those but have a nephew with that name. Xx

@AcrobaticCardigan, Jai... I thought that was for a girl 🤷🏻‍♀️ because my husband's cousin has a daughter named Jai. I used to love Jay but now i think its too common.

Is Rohan usually a girl's name? The only one I know is male.

Trailing1 · 14/12/2020 14:21

Just to add some more, that I have heard used in recent years, they are short but still have a traditional element
Yuvraj
Waris
Arun
Rajan
Anand

Rohan is a boy's name. I think its lovely, if I had a boy I would have used it myself. X

@Bella678 - do you have a link to this thread please? Would love to see some options I haven't heard of. Struggling because all the name ideas I am seeing are either already taken and/or unoriginal. Also looking for something easy to pronounce.

Bella678 · 07/01/2021 09:12

@Orangetreess how do i send you the link? Tried playing around and cant figure it out 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Bella678 - oh god I can't figure it out either. Grin Don't know how others do it on here. Don't worry though, thanks for trying. Hope you managed to decide on a name...it's so difficult isn't it?! Especially for boys

Bella678 · 07/01/2021 17:40

@Orangetreess omg boys names are definitely harder than girls. I have a list of names for boys and girls but its agreeing a name with hubby 🤣 good luck on finding a name too x

Hubby and I can't agree on anything, that's the problem. We've resorted to creating a list of names that are ok but we don't love - those will be our fallback options. If we don't find anything we love by the time baby is born then we'll just choose one of those. At least you have a list of nice names, I'm sure hubby will like at least a couple of them x

Bella678 · 07/01/2021 19:20

@Orangetreess with our daughter i wanted Mia but he preferred Mya so I compromised and said if we ever had another it'd be my choice. So it will be my choice but I feel awful when he says "im not keen"! Hes not keen on any except the one name he wants. He's beyond annoying 😡
