Love as a middle name for a girl?

Hello all! As the title suggests, DH and I thinking about names for our baby girl and would be keen to get thoughts on Love as a middle name. Not decided first name yet but have a few ideas!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm not really keen on it to be honest. It's not terrible, but I'd be tempted to go for a name which means 'love', or something similar, instead of the word itself. I prefer Carys - a beautiful Welsh name meaning love. Cerys is a variant of the same name. There's also:

Esme - French / Persian - Esteemed and beloved
Freya - Norse goddess of love and fertility
Amy / Aimee - Beloved

I have to say my first association is a deeply irritating American mummy blogger whose name escapes me, but whose elder daughter is called Lainey Love.

(The kind of blogger who is forever staging Insta-moments in insanely elaborate ways, like by dragging a dresser out into the woods around their Florida house to have an autumn party where she photographs the children prettily throwing autumn leaves sent annually in a box by her friend in Maine...)

winechateauxjoy · 09/12/2020 13:45

As pp said how about Carys, Cerys or actually Cariad which is now being used as a name? Angharad is also a lovely name - means 'one who is loved'.

Beamur · 09/12/2020 13:48

How about Loveday?

weegiemum · 09/12/2020 13:50

One of my dds has Morna as a middle name, which means Beloved.

Iamagree · 09/12/2020 13:52

I just imagine it with a comma in between first and middle "Bertha, Love" or "Portia, Love"

LividLoves · 09/12/2020 13:52

Jennifer Love Hewitt??

Rhythmisadancer · 09/12/2020 13:53

Is she going to be on Coronation Street?

Joeyandpacey · 09/12/2020 13:53

Cute! I like it

Hope4theBestPlan4theWorst · 09/12/2020 14:09

I worked with a woman who called her daughter "Loveday" and see got to 18 to change it to her middle name she hated it that much. I think it's import from to think about how this will affect people when they are older

missrks · 09/12/2020 14:15

I think it's so pretty! Don't worry what anyone else thinks. It's adorable

IsolaPribby · 09/12/2020 14:21

I think that middle names are used much less frequently than first names, so can be a bit quirkier, and an opportunity to use something that has a lot of meaning for you. So if you both want Love, and it has meaning to you, then why not?

msssm · 09/12/2020 14:23

I like it. As long as it goes with the first name and it's what you and dh both like and agree on then why not.

BoomyBooms · 09/12/2020 14:38

I think it's cool. How well she carries it off will depend on first and last names too though - she needs interesting or exptic first and last names to go with it I reckon! So no 'emilia love jones' but more of a 'serendipity love williamson'. But I do enjoy unique names! My daughter's is very unusual and I really like Ambrose for a boy.

MrsRenard · 09/12/2020 14:39

I like the name Loveday. I believe it’s an old english name and there are a few about.

pizzaandcats · 09/12/2020 14:40

@Rhythmisadancer

Is she going to be on Coronation Street?
this made me giggle Grin
MotheringShites · 09/12/2020 14:45

I hear this in Deidre Barlow’s voice! Tracey Love 😂
LittleGwyneth · 09/12/2020 14:46

Loveday as a middle name is high on my list - it's old Cornish so especially good if you've got any connections there.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/12/2020 14:54

I second pp's suggestions of the traditional Loveday - it's gorgeous. I wouldn't be brave enough to use it in the first name spot, but as a middle name it's beautiful.

The word "Love" alone could either be considered a bit tacky/unfortunate or more hippy/arty depending on her personality imo - she'd have to be quite confident to be pull it off, I think.

OneStepOneStumble · 09/12/2020 15:09

I'm sorry to say it makes me think of the girl from You series 2, which isn't really a compliment. But also middle names aren't used on the regular and so if you like it and it goes with her first name then go ahead!

Tsubasa1 · 09/12/2020 15:11

I like it

MikeUniformMike · 09/12/2020 17:10

I thought of Clarrieluv.

If you want it, use it. FWIW Carys, Cerys and Angharad are popular first names in Wales and are a bit middle aged. Not keen on Cerys/Carys - too many of them my age or older, and Angharad has become a bit too popular.

YoniAndGuy · 09/12/2020 19:35

Yes, use Loveday as a middle name. It's Cornish.

Cindie943811A · 10/12/2020 22:31

I like the Maori Aroha which means love.
