Middle name for Freddie

First of all, yes, if our baby is a boy we love the name Freddie as a full first name - I have seen far too many forums saying it is awful that people are using the 'nickname' for Frederick and not Frederick itself. In this day and age, Freddie is also classed as a full first name.

Now for our big decision! We know that we want Freddie if our baby is a boy, however we can't for the life of us agree on a middle name. The most commonly suited middle names that come up on the internet for Freddie are unusable for us. Without giving too much personal info away, David, George and James are already VERY closely and heavily used and related to us (James being the baby's surname so a definite no for a middle name).

I like Freddie William, as William was my Grandad's middle name and our other son has his first name. DH isn't keen though.

I also like Freddie Noah, as Noah was a name that we liked for our first born but didn't use. DH thinks that Noah is overly used now.

DH likes Freddie Theodore, which is probably the closest we have become to agreeing on a middle name, but part of me feels that Theodore is too long for a middle name.

I also love names that mean something to us as a family but we don't have many men in the family, other than my Grandad whose first name we used on our eldest, who we would dedicate a name to.

My Grandma has done and still does a lot for us, she is called Elsa. I have been trying to think of boy middle names that we like that are similar to Elsa, but none of them really suit us or Freddie.

We are fully set for if the baby is a girl, we are just struggling with a boy and find out the gender on Wednesday so I would love to have a more secure idea for both genders by Wednesday (although realistically we still have another 20 weeks to fully decide if the baby is a boy).

We all have middle names in our family and I wouldn't want this little one being the odd one out. X

Freddie William is the nicest. Freddie Theodore is far too much of a mouthful. I'd get all tongue twisted and be saying "Threddy Feodore."
"Fleddy Threodore."

Freddie Charles
Freddie Paul
Freddie Thomas
Freddie Joe
Freddie Alexander
Freddie Lewis
Freddie Jay
I also like pps suggestion Freddie Michael

Rufus

What is your grandmother’s middle name? Surname? Maiden name? Or where is she from? You might be able to find a boys name there somewhere.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 06/12/2020 21:28

We have a Freddie Jonathan..

Elsa means pledged to god so you could have a boys name that means something similar

Freddie Elias
Freddie Elijah
Freddie Isaac

Freddie William would be my choice of the three, it's a nice pairing. I think because Freddie is quite popular/trendy at the moment, I'd go for a classic middle name. Noah is as equally popular/trendy as Freddie so doesn't work well imo. Theodore is an okay compromise but still goes in and out of fashion compared to William.

Agree with the other middle name suggestions of Alexander, Thomas, Michael, Charles (and Elias as the closet boys name to your Gran's). And would add Samuel and Adam as possibilities.

Don't call him Freddie Theodore aka Freddie Teddy.

What about Robert?
