What do you think of the name Kirsten.

JauntyMcGinty · 05/12/2020 17:12

I love it. I also love Kirsty.

BinkyBoinky · 05/12/2020 17:15

Very American to me

WellyBootsAreYouFrom · 05/12/2020 17:18

I have always disliked Kirsty, kirsten, Kristen, Kristy etc. I struggle to distinguish between them!

AllThatJazzle · 05/12/2020 17:22

I think it's quite boring.

ApolloandDaphne · 05/12/2020 17:24

I think of it as a very Scottish name. Mostly because I am Scottish and know quite a few, along with several Kirsty's. I like it.

NannyR · 05/12/2020 17:26

I love it, I really like Kirsty too.

GroundAlmonds · 05/12/2020 17:29

It would get muddled with the other spelling Kirstin and also with Kristen. If you love it, though, go for it.

Christa would be another alternative.

MotorwayDiva · 05/12/2020 17:30

I really like it, it's not to unusual that no one's heard of it, but also its not common that there'll be more than one in school class.
I know only two. One is reception at school and the other is grown up

LittleRa · 05/12/2020 17:31

Have to look closely to see if it’s Kirsten or Kristen. As a PP said, I think of it as Scottish.
Would you pronounce “kur-stin” or “kier-stin”?

wonderstuff · 05/12/2020 17:34

They'll have to spell it every time, but will rarely meet another. My mum picked it because she had a Norwegian friend with the name. I think Kirstin is more common in Scotland, only people I've ever met with the name have been Scottish.
I love having an unusual name. I wanted an unusual name for my dd, but turned out I was on trend.

PEKitInAJaneNormanBag · 05/12/2020 17:39

I really like it

Firebird83 · 05/12/2020 21:11

Dated

Chilldonaldchill · 05/12/2020 21:50

I was at school with 3 Kirstens all born in the early 70s. I don't like it because they were all called Kirst which sounds like cursed.

Toocold · 05/12/2020 21:54

Beautiful name, I know one, she is very kind.

Rassy · 05/12/2020 21:54

DD1 is Scottish and a Kirsten. Don't know any other Kirsten's

Enko · 05/12/2020 22:03

My Cousins name (she is mid 20s) beautiful girl and soul and due to that I love it.

DramaAlpaca · 05/12/2020 23:54

Love it.

MercyBodle · 07/12/2020 05:12

I like it, and like that it's rarely used.

HeadPain · 07/12/2020 06:51

Not my cup of tea, "I have always disliked Kirsty, kirsten, Kristen, Kristy etc." same.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 07/12/2020 18:18

I like it. It's underused these days too. Can be shortened for a little girl and use in full when she's grown up.

DigitalChristmas · 07/12/2020 18:20

Not a fan sorry

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 07/12/2020 19:34

I like Kirsten - it sounds quite Scandi to me, yet is well known/useable in the UK (like Astrid, Greta etc). Only concern is it may get misspelt/ missheard as Kristen, because they are so similar - but this probably isn't a big deal.

PlantPotting · 07/12/2020 21:40

It's ok. I find it difficult to pronounce

premmie09 · 07/12/2020 22:49

Very 70s name to me, as I grew up in Australia with many Kirstys and Kirstens.

I'd be surprised to hear it on a baby today but it's not a terrible name in and of itself.
