Hey everyone! I'm new to mumsnet so hello!

The main reason I came on was for advice.. I have a 3 year old little girl named Posie. I absolutely adore the name Posie! I am expecting baby 2 which we found out a few weeks ago was another little girl which we are thrilled about! However, we have a little name dilemma!

We love the name Dolcie, we think it's different, cute and quirky! But we don't know why but we keep thinking Posie and Dolcie sound extremely similar? Do they or is it just us thinking too much?! Any suggestions would be so appreciated. We like names that are different but pretty!

Many thanks, Grace x

Dulcie
Darcy
Daisy

Dolcie reminds me if the shoe shops. Many Saturday mornings spent in there.

I'm not sure how you're pronouncing Dolcie - is it a spelling variation of Dulcie? If so, I quite like it and think it works fine with Posie. I like Daisy more though.

I'm not massively keen but nor do I hate it. Tansy I love and I know 1 grown up lady called Tansy she is wondeful

I have actually met a baby Dolcie. Her mum was a but miffed that it took me a few gos to hear what she was saying! "It's an old fashioned english traditional name"! That's as may be, but I'm not english and I had never heard of it.

Use it if you like, but don't get Angry if unsuspecting non Brits don't get it straight away please and thank you Smile.

I am English and have never heard of either, and I don't like it at all. I like Posie but would keep looking for the sibling name.

That makes me feel a bit better! Thought I'd been a dick. I mean I have been a dick, but not on that occasion.

I would think that that tells you everything you're in for if you use Dolcie OP! Sounds like that mum had had it up to the back teeth of everyone going err what? where does that come from? and might have been regretting her choice!

You reeeally don't want to use a name you have to explain and say several times before people get it Grin

I thought Dolcis was cheap, but actually, most stuff wasn't particularly cheap in the 80s! It was definitely naff though.

I didn't even ask her where it came from. I literally just said "sorry...doll.."? It probably was an accent thing also, as I'm in the South East of England and she said it like "do-w-see". The l became a W sound. It isn't a bad name, I just couldn't hear what she was saying! I think I did fall over myself saying "oh lovely! Yes, that's lovely and very different" panic panic panic.

I mean I said it a few times, "sorry, really sorry, doll.."?
