I really like it, especially it's shortness and snappiness, and yet it's not too out there but still unique.. thoughts? I know it won't be everyones thing, but I thought I'd ask opinions anyway. I have met an Oz before..

Everyone will assume it's Ezra.

wowfudge · 17/11/2020 10:42

As in Easy or short for Ezra?

Dogsorlogs · 17/11/2020 10:44

I have an ez short for ezra, everyone will think it's a nickname

Scarby9 · 17/11/2020 10:48

I assume the Oz was also a nickname or short for Oswald or Osbert (now there's an underused name!).
Ezra - Ez for short.

My son is Ezra, we call him Ez or Ezzie as a nickname

speedypirate · 17/11/2020 10:54

Ezra is a lovely name, I'm just not sure if it's too common? Sibling has quite a rare celtic name, as we're of celtic ancestry.

DJ EZ 😁

NekoShiro · 17/11/2020 11:15

EZ is a shortening of Easy in videogame chat rooms, and it was how I read it, but other than that it sound nice, they just might get some flack for being 'easy' in school but beyond that I'm sure they'll be fine

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 17/11/2020 11:20

It's definitely become more popular as a name, I'm not sure whether that trend will last a substantial amount of time. I still get bewildered looks from many people, particularly elderly people when I introduce him as Ezra. I don't think it's too mainstream/modern to go with a traditional celtic name- it is Biblical after all!

Ezekiel another possibility if you wanted a longer name.
