Watching Strictly at the weekend and JJ has a toddler daughter called Hayley. It actually sounded quite cool and different. There have been threads wondering about an 80s revival. This could be the start!

I met a baby named Kayley recently and found it surprising. Not in a good or bad way, just surprising. Hayley and Kayley are pretty dated to a particular time period.

Not keen on Hayley or Kayley. I don't think they're ready to come back. Slightly prefer Keeley.

I love Hayley and Kayleigh.
I can think of several young girls named Kayla and Kayleigh.
The babyname sites say "caoilfhinn" but it sounds to me like "céile" meaning partner, companion.

It just stood out. If his daughter was called Tilly or Bella I wouldn’t have even registered the name. This was a bit fresher I felt.

It was unglamorous enough a that time. Distance hasn't improved it.

It is refreshing amongst all the Avas Evas and Islas. However in 30-40 years down the line people will say. I met a baby Ava today. I was so shocked.
If you think about it Hayley is probably a granny name now, isn’t it

It's a very 80's name, I went to school with a few and my good friend was named this. My friends mum said she named her after Haley's comet which was around at the time.

It's a bit dated and boring to me. I think the Hailey spelling looks much nicer though.

Yes, I quite like it. I also like Gemma, I know a couple of young Gemmas and I was surprised to hear it at first, but I like it for a little girl and for a grown woman actually!

I also really like Natalie and Keeley, if we are talking 80s names!

It’s a bad name for me as I was horrifically bullied by one as a child, then by another as an adult at work and the others I’ve known have never been particularly nice either so I have trust issues around Hayleys.

I knew an angelic little Halle-Rose a few years ago and I do prefer Halle (nice reference to both the comet and the choir/orchestra). I don’t like Kayleigh but love Ceili or Ceilidh.

There is a comeback with some of these names...I’ve heard of babies Laura, Louise, Patricia etc recently.

Hayley always reminds me of Hayley Cropper from Coronation Street. Very fuddy duddy and dated.

I knew a few Hayleys as a kid and they were usually scallies or chavs and utterly horrible. So I have quite a negative association with the name. Would hope it isn’t having a revival any time soon.

I’m 50 and had a Hayley in my class. And my friend’s mother is Hayley. I don’t think of it as particularly 80s. It’s quite a pretty sounding name. The Hayley I went to school with was sweet.

The very first Hayley was Hayley Mills, daughter of actor John Mills and writer Mary Hayley Bell, so a surname/family name. After Hayley’s debut as a cute wee girl in Tiger Bay the name took off. So was a celeb name of its time (?early 60’s ) and not a classic. Let it rest in peace for a few more decades
