Thoughts on Wyatt for a boys name? Also how would you pronounce as DH thinks it would get confused with other ways🤔??

MonicaBelulaGellar · 31/10/2020 22:57

Love it! I would pronounce it WHY-UT

DarkChic · 31/10/2020 22:57

Lovely name

BigusBumus · 31/10/2020 22:59

Don't like it at all. I would group it I. The same class as Jaxon, Jayson and Alfie.

Dont start picking on names. Some may be sensitive and take offence. Just say you dont like it and move on.
Hazelgood · 31/10/2020 23:35

Love it! Very handsome.

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2020 23:50

No, not for me. It's another not particularly attractive surname being chosen as a first name.

There's surely only one way to pronounce it, though - WHY-utt.

BackforGood · 31/10/2020 23:56

Can't think how you would say it other than WHY-ut (though it is somewhere between 'at' and 'ut')

However, really don't like it. Instantly leap to Wyatt Earp. Just makes me think 'cowboy'.

Really, if you are sensitive about names, STAY AWAY FROM THE BABY NAMES threads. People come on here to ask for honest opinions. If you aren't confident enough in the name you have given / are giving your dc, then maybe choose a different name.

Happenchance · 01/11/2020 00:05

It's grown on me recently.

BillysMyBunny · 01/11/2020 00:06

I would pronounce it as others face said, Why-ut. It’s not to my taste at all but I don’t think there would be issues with pronunciation as it’s a widely recognised name.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 01/11/2020 01:09

It's not for me, no.

I'd say WHY AT

as in...Wyatt Earp

OK Coral

@DramaAlpaca. Blast those people in the 1840's using surnames as first names.

theamplifier · 01/11/2020 01:12

It sounds extremely American to me. Not saying that's good or bad.

MoreCookiesPlease · 01/11/2020 01:12

Urgh, definitely don't like this name!

Mrstwiddle · 01/11/2020 01:16

Erm, no.

TillyTheTiger · 01/11/2020 01:26

It makes me think of Wyatt Langmore in the Netflix series Ozark.

The only issue I can think of is if your surname starts with a 'T'. When I was young I thought Wyatt Earp was called 'Wire Turp', I was quite surprised when I saw the name written down.

Danniiaddy · 01/11/2020 01:36

It sounds a bit hillbilly IMO

MostDisputesDieAndNoOneShoots · 01/11/2020 01:40

Are you American? Are you cowboys? Are you American cowboys? If none of the above then please pick another name.

AlwaysLatte · 01/11/2020 01:43

I couldn't put it better than @MostDisputesDieAndNoOneShoots tbh.

DramaAlpaca · 01/11/2020 01:49

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants in the 1840s it would've been a family surname being passed on as a first name so that name didn't die out entirely.

And it's 'corral', not 'coral', btw Wink

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/11/2020 02:06

Grin at "Wire Turp".

I don't think pronunciation will be a problem, but I do think the only association most people will have is the gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

(Being pedantic, Wyatt Earp wasn't a cowboy. He ran businesses in frontier towns.)

Greyhoundgirly · 01/11/2020 10:15

Feels very American, pronounced why-at/ut as others have said. Honestly if you like it just use it, there are so many strong opinions on the baby name threads it makes you wonder what their kids are called and whether any name is good enough haha xx

CharityPecksniff · 01/11/2020 10:17

Not a nice name

YouKnowWhoo · 01/11/2020 10:18

Eh no.

BackforGood · 01/11/2020 16:54

@emilyroberts Can you tell us how else your dh thinks it miht be pronounced ? Smile

VenusClapTrap · 01/11/2020 17:21

I don’t like it.
