Which girls name out of these 2?

Jnl90 · 27/10/2020 13:34

Hi everyone,

We have narrowed down our names to 2! They are:

-Marcie
-Riva (pronounced Reeva) but not keen on that spelling

Which is your favourite? If you dont like them thats fine but no need to reply if you like neither, just want to see what people prefer out of these 2.

Thanks :)

Marcie

DramaAlpaca · 27/10/2020 23:23

Riva.

I prefer the Reeva spelling but I don't think that's useable, sadly.

wishing3 · 27/10/2020 23:25

Riva, and I would assume it was pronounced as Reeva .👍🏻

Smellbellina · 27/10/2020 23:27

Riva

Ohtannenbaumohtannenbaum · 27/10/2020 23:29

I was initially going to say I prefer Riva but the more I think about it the more I think I like the sound of Marcie better!

The only thing for me is there's something about the spelling of marcie that I'm not keen on but i dont know why!

M0rT · 27/10/2020 23:30

I prefer Riva as long as you don't live somewhere people add an r when the word ends in a.
Marcie is also a good name so I can understand the dilemma.
Best wishes for your pregnancy.

I remember the Lada Riva as a fairly awful utilitarian car, so Marcie. Or Marcia

Kanaloa · 28/10/2020 00:29

I would choose Riva. I have met a Riva & a Reeva both said so they rhyme with Diva. I think it’s a nice name.

username1724 · 28/10/2020 01:44

Riva is beautiful, Marcie just doesnt habeas nice a sound to it.

Ghosts2020 · 28/10/2020 04:10

I like both equally but agree with the mispronunciagion problems, just think about whichever one goes better with last names

micc · 28/10/2020 04:17

Riva is lovely

MaryShelley1818 · 28/10/2020 07:36

Absolutely love Marcie - but it is the name of one of my best friends who is the loveliest person I know so has lots of positive associations for me.
She is Marcia but everyone calls her Marcie x

SirVixofVixHall · 28/10/2020 07:37

Marcie.

Twizbe · 28/10/2020 07:39

I prefer Marcia shortened time Marcie. I don't like ie ending names for grown women. They feel a bit too little girl like.

That said, no need to decide now. Wait until she is here and look at her. She might suit one more than the other.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/10/2020 08:31

I prefer Riva but agree with others that it may get mispronounced. I also think Reeva looks prettier but that's just my opinion, you obviously don't agree :)

RainbowRaine · 28/10/2020 08:38

I like Riva but would go with the Reeva spelling.

Jnl90 · 28/10/2020 11:55

Thanks all! I see Riva has now become the more popular choice today. Theres about 6 votes in it.

Riva.
Marcie sounds a bit wet tbh. Riva sounds stronger to me, a bit different without being difficult or weird.

AnnetteCurtainPeeper · 28/10/2020 17:59

I love both (sorry not helpful) - I actually quite like Riva Marcie.

Loads of people have to correct people on their name pronunciation, my daughter is Lyra and I get Leera a lot.

unmarkedbythat · 28/10/2020 18:04

Riva, and I like the spelling.

whatausername · 29/10/2020 00:55

Riva!

MissMarplesHandbag · 29/10/2020 01:00

I think Riva will get mispronounced as River, which will be bloody annoying. So I’m going for Marcie.

CucumberFacePot · 29/10/2020 01:22

Riva is lovely
