Hi everyone, I am new here so be gentle with me :-)
We ar having a baby boy in January and I'm struggling to decide on a name. I have two and would like some opinions?

  1. Thomas Oliver Lock
  2. Ollie (Oliver, but Ollie for short) Thomas Lock

Many thanks

I'd vote for Oliver Thomas as I'm not a huge fan of any Thomas shortenings. However Ollie Locke is a TV 'personality', think he's off Made in Chelsea, I dont think many people will make the connection but it was the first thing I thought of!

I prefer Oliver Thomas

Oliver is very overused, which is why we rejected it.

I'd go for Oliver Thomas just because Tom Lock sounds quite abrupt to me whereas Ollie Lock flows better (I'm assuming Lock is the surname).

Much prefer the sound/flow of Thomas Oliver Lock, and Tom Lock doesn't sound too abrupt to me (yes, they are both one syllable but they have very different sounds).

Thomas also has the benefit of being less popular than Oliver now as well as less likely to date (Thomas has pretty much stayed in the top 20 names for the last 100 years or so, where as Oliver is much more prone to trends).

I like both combinations.

I guess it depends whether you prefer Ollie/Olly or Tom as a diminutive.

Actually, saying them to myself Tom Lock flows better than Ollie Lock, which perhaps has too many 'l' sounds.
